Thanks Acastle187. I'll be going in a week, I'm ready for road bumps and I'm ready for a nice smooth path, basically whatever comes my way. I've heard bad but also heard good, I'm ready to see for myself. Who you drive for now?

That's great. I will driving for another company, and I am happy about it. I will never know what happened with Werner, but it leaves me with a bad impression. i will just count it as a blessing. : )

I havent finished reading the whole thread but gonna jump in... I just finished orientaion at Werner.. I started orientation in Omaha January 1, 2014.. I got on my trainers truck right after orientation.. actually, they had me a trainer and had to hurry up with the last part of my orientation to get me on the road.. I got on my trainers truck Friday Jan 3 at 10:15 am..

I am very pleased with my choice to go with Werner.. the people at Werner during orientation were great.. any hiccups that came up they took care of right away.. My trainer is awesome.. nice clean truck, she has 16 years of driving experience and has the skills, not only to drive, but to teach and train.. My SDM is great, I have talked to him a few times and all is good..

In my opion so far.. Werner has delivered more than what the recruiter told me and far more than what I expected and far far more than the two companies I was with before..

I stayed away from Werner at first because of the negative stuff you read.. but, when I was out on the road and talked to several Werner drivers I was hearing good things.. so, after two bad experiences with other companies I went with Werner and I am glad I did..

I learned more this week with Werner than I did in two months and thousands of of miles with my former company...

When I was at orientation I met a driver who had just got off his trainers truck, got assigend his truck and was starting on a dedicated account.. right off the trainers truck..

Maybe it doesnt go that way all the time.. but come on now.. we are all adults and know that things happen or don't always go the way we thought.. sheesh, I know in my life it has... just recently, I had promised to take my niece to this sushi resturant when I was home.. well, it did not happen.. when I had the time, she was busy or the sushi place was closed.. she did not get online and blast me for empty promises and being a horrible bottom feeder Aunt...

I was pleased and impressed by Werners orientantion, and I am pleased with how things have gone thus far.. I know that I don't have much time in with Werner.. but, I have met many who have been with werner for years... drivers who have driven for werner for years and they had good things to say about them...

Good luck to you.. also.. if you are in Omaha for oreintation.. be sure to check out the museum and the two show trucks in the back bay... wow!!!

Okay.. just read all the other.. I don't much about the recruiting department. but, the first recuiter I had either quit or got fired.. the second one I only spoke to once, but he was nice enough and the third and final one was great, made sure all my ducks were in a row and everything was set for orientation and all was good..

Sorry you had a bad experience.. and I do wish you luck with your new company.. I do think it is silly to judge all of werner because of one recruiter failing to call you back... why give that one recruiter who by your standards is not compitent all that power...

also, keep in mind.. in trucking.. you have to be prepared for the other side to drop the ball.. dispatch, shippers, other drivers... you cant give away your job and power to them.. from just the little experience I have out here that is one thing I have learned.. I no longer just put my career and fait in everyone elses hands.. I double check and tripple check things.. if a fellow driver tells me a trailer is fine I thank them and go check it for myself, if I call a department for something and they need to get back to me, I give them time then call them back, I look over and check everything I can from shippers.. if I drop a trailer and pick it back up loaded and sealed I look over the trailer again and when I sign the paper work I mark that it was sealed.. that way if it was loaded wrong or whatever it can't come back on me... cause I couldn't break the seal and check it out.. That is what I did with my recruiters.. I did not know why the first one didn't call me back.. for all I knew he could of been in an accident and in the hospital, or had a love one pass away.. all I knew was I didn't want to just sit around waiting for a call.. so, I picked up the phone and called and got another recruiter... this is not directed at you or anyone.. I just want for everone reading this to know they have to be proactive.. don't be a steering wheel holder in your own life.. be the captan and commander of your life...

I called Werner when I got off the truck and was at the truck stop waiting for my brother to pick me up.. got set to go to orientaion.. well, the company I had been with text me, they had fired the guy that was "training me' and wanted me to stay on, they bumped up my pay.. well they werre in a bind and need a load delivered and asked if I could just take that load and they would have me back in timne for me to make the Werner Orientation I was scheduled to attend.. Well, I was miles away.. they neve got me back.. so, Having blown the werner thing I figured I would just stay.. however, it was just not for me so I turned in the truck and headed home for Christmas..

Was looking and applying to other companies thinking after missing orientation Werner would not consider me.. but, I made the call and got set for Orientation again.. this I made ir and so far I am very, very pleased..

So, yeah give them a call..

OK so I'm thinking of going with werner but this last one just confused me.... Did your trainer dump you at a truck stop ? That is not cool at all

I'm in training now with Werner, feel free to ask me any questions. Don't let all the negative make you not want to come. Werner has been great to so far and has done everything and then some. The staff and other drivers are cool and down to earth. They ain't going to look down on you because your a driver or whatever. If your trainer left you at a truck stop he will probably be fired, the only place your trainer can drop you off at is at a terminal.

    ridenby and AztecHybrid_810 Thank this.
