medishare is NOT insurance. When you go to the doctor, hospital, etc you don't get to tell them you have insurance because you don't. From my understanding when you get the bill you send it to them, pay your copay/deductible(whatever they call it) and they spread the bill to as many members as it takes to pay the bill. You pay a monthly premium as well. I am no expert, but know several people using one of these programs and they like it.

Is that what they mean by family share on the page?

It sounds interesting. It says it covers the requirements to have some kind of health coverage. Here's a another fund specifically to help truckers http://truckersfund.com/ the St. Christopher Fund helps truckers whose health problems have led to financial hardship.

The statistics quoted in this are kind of depressing.

Yes, it tells the big picture. Sounds like a good program to help drivers out. I hear Dave Nemo talk about it on roaddog trucking on xm radio.

Apparently there are a great many truck drivers without coverage. The article points to many reasons and implies others.camaro68 Thanks this.

I think having a health insurance for a trucker was important because that kind of work was very heavy and not easy to do.

The Company I work for has free Health Insurance for families. They also have a pay plan that is $74 a month and that one is really good. Seems like it is mainly for families that have sick kids or a family that uses it a lot because there is a $0 deductible. The free one has a $3000 deductible.

That sounds like a good deal. Very rare these days. Even with a $3,000 deductible.

With a little tort reform, the ACA would not have been necessary.
SlowPoke44magnum and frankgh Thank this.
