Shaggy that's exactly what it was. I was called by the fm at 11am that day and told he had found me a trainer. Had me meet a guy in ny to bring me to pittston. The "trainer" was waiting for me and in a rush as he said he was already behind schedule. I told him I had to get a drink but what I did was ran inside and tried to get into the log book department to get a paper log but it was locked. I didn't know what else to do so I just got on the truck. That all happened within 10 minutes of me arriving. I had no time to think anything through and on top of that wasn't sure if what I was thinking was actually true. I second guessed myself. Now ive been up over 24 hrs and so hasn't the trainer. We are now on our way to our next pickup. As he was driving on my log he had himself marked as in the sleeper.
I'm trying to rectify this now but I'm not aware of all my options. I cant really call the fm currently as I'm in the truck with the trainer. Can I just tell him to bring me back to pittston and get off the truck? We will be headed right by there to our next 90. Or is that not a good idea for me to do at this stage in the game?
Need a new trainer badly

Call up whomever is your safety person. No answer, Start dialing numbers get anyone on the horn.
Save your log for proof he was using it. Highly doubt he will bring you back to Pittson and Implicate his own shenanigans to the company.
Suggest a email to company safety for proof as well. Plus the trainer can't hear of your intentions. or when you get to pick up make the phone callEvl1 Thanks this. -
Nows the best time to get something going. If you are headed by the terminal, then getting someone involved to get you dropped of right away.
send a message to dispatch. Call someone, anyone in safety. Tell them if you can't get any help, you will get off the truck and start calling up the chain and they can explain to there bosses why you weren't being supported and you felt so unsafe as to get off the truck.
tell them now is the time to do something, especially if you are going by the terminal. Tell them everything, and don't hold back out of concern for the trainer.
Tell them that driving on your log is against the law and if they won't do anything maybe a call to a state trooper might fix the problem. -
The 24-hour line to Prime is 417.866.0001 - call that number and explain that you need to speak to the senior operations person on-duty in reefer dispatch. That will get you to the most senior person who is on-duty today in the company. If possible you want to speak to Steve Larsen personally.
BTW... you have to turn this guy in, or you're in as much trouble as he is.Last edited: Dec 28, 2013

That is totally wrong and unethical for that PRIME trainer to be doing that
Did he seem intoxicated at all ?Evl1 Thanks this. -
Ok ive made a couple phone calls while the trainer was away to no avail. So for cya I sent an email to safety. At least its on record at this point.
IP when I can get away fro the trainer for a phone call I will attempt to get in touch with who you suggested.
And no he didn't seem intoxicated in any sense. -
you're doing all you can at this point

a trainee should not be subject to having a trainer who is low on hours driving on his clock period.....WRONG WRONG WRONG however you slice that. If trainee has their cdl, trainer should let trainee drive and sit in seat two and train....period. Trainer should plan this out better. BAD BAD example from a Trainer if this is the way it is there at Prime.
Specifically one of the reasons i did not go with Prime, i just did not have faith in their training program. On it's face it does appear to be a good system but it seems there are far too many bad things that happen in reality. -
...and you never walked through the door, have no idea of what you're posting about (except that this guy is a horrible example of a trainer anywhere)... and are once again posting Bovine Excrement about a carrier you really know nothing about.Shaggy, JimmyBones, DLC and 1 other person Thank this.

After 40 years as a training company,
you'd think prime could do things better than this.
It was like this 10 years ago, when I trained.
No wonder only 1 in 7 new drivers makes it to 90 days..............
Pitiful !Dinomite Thanks this.
