13 speed??

    A lot of people who use 13's just run them like regular 9 speeds. They just have the option of splitting when they downshift.

    LOL... I used to shift my old Freightshaker like a 5 speed if I was empty. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10

    correct me if I am wrong but this how I interupit a 13 speed:

    1,2,3,4

    splitter, 5,6,7,8

    hi, 9, 10,11,12,13

    lo1234 split to top half 5 lo 5 high 6 lo 6 hi 7lo 7hi so on and so forth until 8hi (13th geared)

    Well, i will take a 9spd or a 10spd any day. But once i get driving I am sure it will not be as bad as I think.

    1 2 3 4

    5/6 7/8 9/10 11/12.

    Now I know that looks like a 12 spd but there is a low low gear in there that is rarely used.

    Keep in mind the shift from 5 to 6, 7 to 8, 9 to 10 and 11 to 12 are done with the flick of a button and lifting off the throttle for a brief moment. Does not require "shifting" as most folks know it, and it works very well to get a load moving down the highway.

    Oh, I didn't understand that you weren't a driver yet. A nine or ten speed is fine, especially to learn on. You can shift a 13 or an 18 speed the same as a nine, just shift it in direct and don't worry about splitting gears until you are comfortable. After you have been driving awhile even with light loads you will understand and appreciate the 13 or 18 should you have the opportunity to drive with one. When you shift in direct you have a 400 RPM drop/gain, when you split gears as with the 13 or 18, you have a 200 RPM drop/gain. Hope that helps some.

    Most of us don't haul 100K regular. :D


    Its about impossible for me to get over 71K with this set up. Its not hard to get over on the trailer axles.

    That's true....awww the days of running 5 axle....sometimes I miss them days!
