Are CR England students considered employees at least part-way through training or does that happen once they get their own trucks? If they are employees, they could file a complaint not only with the health department, but potentially with OSHA. The reason these things aren't being taken care of is CR England gambles on the assumption that students are desperate enough not to say anything or they don't know any better.

Doubt OSHA will take action unless hundreds complain. After all they're just trk drivers let em suffer.Thats how we as drivers are treated from companies like England and flea bag motels ect.

truck driving is very stressful, learning to drive a big rig in the winter snow can be a terrifying experience at least for some of us. I was very focused on learning the safety and dealing with the tension by learning to relax yet still stay focused. metaphorically, I could refer to it as if wearing horse blinders, because I felt the need to block out the extra stimuli and stay focused on the road and my training.I had to finish my training!after receiving my class A, it was my choice to stay, because Donald, my trainer over the road was excellent.at the end of my training, the home time that they promised so that I could go home and see my son was stripped away. I was also informed that I would probably be based out of SLC after being promised as much as could be promised that I was going to be based closer to home, in Gary Indiana.I told my driver coordinator that I was going home or at least the week and she said, you can't. I said, with a chuckle, well? I am.I went home and after a couple of weeks, she called me back. I kindly told her that I wasn't coming back because I was going 2 SN. :)

Absolutely, and i hope you dont think i am slamming you--its just that your timing couldn't be more perfect. The other poster i was talking about just a couple of days ago said very similar things but much much worse --so maybe i am lumping you in with he/she because of the similarity.
If i can find the posting i will stick it in here if i can --and you will see why i am skeptical.
After all, if i or you or everyone in this forum believed every word that was typed in this forum there wouldn't be one single person on here trucking or vise versa everyone would be making $100,000 dollars a year.

OSHA will go after big companies, though. I worked for a large HMO healthcare provider back in 2007 and OSHA nailed them for several thousand in fines for neglecting proper sharps storage and disposal procedures at nursing stations. Sharps aren't even supposed to be at nursing stations unless there is a sterile and secure point of containment for the unused sharps and there's a sharps disposal box right there. The only place those were located were in the exam and procedure rooms. Patient rooms didn't have them either.

that seemed to be true in my case. CJ, I wasn't hired on yet, & I didn't know any better. I did what I thought I could, within the parameters of not getting screwed out of being hired on. After all, they made it perfectly clear that they weren't afraid to cut people loose for even the smallest reasons like a wrinkled social security card! Lol :)

you're not an employee until you get your own truck. And when the time comes, they send in these sales people that are really good at their jobs and make you think that you probably won't be working much unless you sign a really expensive lease, especially for a brand new driver that still has to learn his or her limits and strengths. after about the 5th time I said no and they looked at me with pity in their eyes, and after 2 phone calls in my home time telling me about how sorry they feel for me and that I'm really making a mistake for not leasing, they got the hint.I needed to understand the business before I ever decided to jump into a huge lease. This is just another reason why I decided I wasn't going back after my home time. The badgering sales people!

That's one thing my uncle and several posters on here have warned me about. Never sign onto a lease until you've been in the industry a while. My personal time frame is two years. If I'm still doing well and I'm comfortable enough to handle it, I'll head that route. It'll be with a reputable company though. I need more than a dream and a sales pitch to make that jump.

I also want to understand how to work load boards if I want to go fully independent.

Just think how good this industry would be if everyone had the same views as you and thauser have.Would'nt be companies like England taking advantage of the newbies. But they're big boys and girls, noone should have to hold their hand for choices they make.
