I see. so your RPMs don't drop as much. but you don't have to split the upper gears, just shift it like an 8 speed?
what about the actual shifting process on a 13? do you switch the splitter, THEN let off the fuel? or let off the fuel, THEN flip the switch? do you flip back to low split in neutral to go to the next gear? do you have to clutch (double or otherwise) when upshifting OR downshifting?
13 speed??

i dont use my clutch for anything other than 1st and reverse
flip then lift off...same with down shifting....flip, let off...wait for it to come out of gear and mash on it
6 goin to 7, just flip the side swtch and drop the shifter...
they really are easy -
Mike drove a 13 speed for three months and has been driving a Super 10 for six months and MUCH preferred the 13 speed. I was with him with both and the 10 does lug a lot more than the 13 did, or seems to, anyway. He loved the 13 speed but they're not nearly as common as they used to be. It's also very hilly here everywhere - not flat almost anywhere. It's not mountainous but it's not prairie flat, either. It seemed to be much nicer of a shift on a 13 speed. Mike doesn't use the cluth any more, either, like broncrider - just for 1st and reverse. I guess it comes naturally after you've driven awhile

Thanks Brickman. I appreciate that. That makes it easier for me to understand.

Yeah, thanks. The part I like the best is the 86" sleeper. -
Do you have the couch in that one? I heard some don't. I'm not sure If I'd liek the couch in there.

My normal shift pattern (80K) would look something like 1,2,3,4 flip to hi 5L, 6L, 7L, 8L, 8H then when downshifting on hills 8H (until 1100 rpm), 7L, 6L, 5H. The reason I skip so far on my first down is due to the way the truck is governed 8L and 7H top out at 1500 rpm and I drive an ACCERT that seems to take a day to spool up so I try to minimize the number of shifts to help keep the turbo pressurized as long as possable

No, you can order them with a bed. Apparently this one was ordered without a couch.
My Select Comfort air bed fits pretty good.

Nice looking ride Brickman, i imagine it rides like a dream too. We just got a truck with the 13spd in it and after driving a 15spd for the last 10 years it does take some getting used to but once i finally get it on the road it will all come back to me in a hurry, after you drive the 13spd you wouldn't want to go back.
