Thanks baack, I was hoping for a response like that. I am in a computer job right now, and hate it. It's going to be a big change of lifestyle for me, so I hope I like it. I'm sure I will.

i graduated from STA green bay last week, on the 1st of sep. spent the last week with my TE. good guy, knows his stuff, wont steer me wrong. kinda hard tho, i learned everything in those pumpkin freightshakers and he drives a new pete. its a company truck, so 63.5 or 65 w the cruise. but the bump n run is a lot different. first time out, we took a load from green bay to lancaster, pa. the first day was kinda wierd, drivin thru chicago right away, then the moutains on i-76 the next day, but after the first time you do it, its not that bad. ive had some bad jobs back home, dead end, no money. trucking is something ive wanted to do since i was a kid, and im very very happy w schneider so far. just have to retake the dot test (failed it for impeding traffic like 100 yards from the #### school, on the last turn!) and then do my sqt, so things are good so far. then ill start my acct. w general mills.

if you are considering schneider, its a good company, the training is very good, they wont let you fail. but if u fail a test 3 times, gotta get goin.

As having never driven a truck before should I start with schneider,, I not a money hungry greedy kinda guy, and I only have between 4-8 years before I can retire. Having said that, I want to pay for my own training out of pocket, so Im not anyones slave. Does or have anyone heard of what the cost would be at Sni ?? Not crazy about Orange, but color isnt what counts right now. lol..
I dont care about home time anymore either,lol.. my wife is retired, and doesnt have time for me much anymore anyway after 31 years its just not that important anymore. She has kids and I never did, so I would much rather travel and get paid for it while I still can.
Im kinda liking the perdiem thingy , I have gotten perdiem before and man it really pads the old stash money. It would take a heap of miles and many years to make a difference in s.s. That money can make a good sum in a few years in an ira account, and in the end pay out alot more then 2cents per mile difference. Remember that is your money, not gov. and you control it not them, and it will always be there.! Just my thought on perdiem.
Anyway I would like to thank everyone on there thought on driving for the pumpkins. Like I said its just a color of truck, and color of truck only matters if your buying a new one.

But I have never driven a truck before for a living, so everything I am thinking about the industry could be all wrong. Hopefully Im not making a wrong decision here, on wanting to drive truck until I can retire.??:smt102

I am wanting to go to Schneider and just had a few questions after reading a few posts about it.

The first one being my top concern with the CDL test, a friend of mine who has been a trucker told me that you have to parallel park in the test, at Schneider's training, do they work with you on this? I seen on their site that they work with you on turning and backing up.

My second question is about the skid row (if I typed that correctly). Where they make you hydroplane. Do they still have that or is it simulated now?

That's all I can think of as of now. I still have 5 days until my 21st birthday arrives, so waiting on that to put in my application and also to get my CDL permit first.

    TIA

I see there's a bunch of talk about Schneider here, so I figure I'll ask you guys/gals. What's the general rule on home time with Schneider? Is it one day for every six out or what?

    Thanks, everyone.

Second question, how about the Schneider bulk division? Through my research on the internet it seems that generally (and not just with Schneider) bulk drivers get more home time. Anyone have any input on this?

Bulk gets six days per month at home-you use them how you want to but they really don't like you using them on Mondays or Fridays. Some guys will take all six at once, some take two three day weekends. Also kind of depends on where you are based out of and your STL
