I wasn't talking about how they treat the drivers. I have worked for mega fleets. Schneider and crst and Sharkey to a lesser point.
I was talking about equipment and speccing in order to turn a profit. When you break it down your just a warm body in the driver seat too. Truck don't care who drives it.
You are correct about taking care of the drivers. I work for a smaller tanker company now and it's awesome.

Four years and you've been with four companies? Hmmm...
Megas spec their trucks to be as cheap as possible, not necessarily as efficient as possible. If the had a clue what they were doing, they wouldn't cut the HP back on their trucks, as doing so impacts mileage. The megas care about volume. Period. Their fuel discounts are high enough due to the amount of fuel they purchase that the fuel economy of their trucks doesn't mean as much to them as you think.

Yep I left crst cause their pay was awful. I left Schneider as a left ditch attempt at saving my marriage, which failed, I left Sharkey because they weren't keeping me moving and they are disorganized and I had enough and wanted to do something different other then pull a box around. I'm not gonna sit at a company that's not providing for me. There are enough other companies no one should have to put up with that. I tried talking to dispatchers, safety, everyone to no avail. So I had to do what I had to do to provide for my family and my 6 kids.

Over what brand and model tire where you replacing , with which model ? Just switching to super singles will not mean any savings. There are dual tires out there that beat the rolling resistance numbers of some SS tires. Have to do your homework first. What we run the numbers are so close there would be very little savings to switch.

Your implying that do to limited time in the business I can't make good business decisions. I think us with less time int he business are just more willing to adapt to new tech to make our lives easier. With the invention of a GPS I can be more efficient, do quicker trip planning and take a more direct local route (if I dont know the area from driving there before) Many older drivers still plan the same old way and dont use it. That's fine, but for me, I'll use the GPS to help me do my job better and make more money. SS are the same way. Thay are just a new tech to make me more profitable without any more work. I'm not big on change, so I get where your coming from, but if you embrace new tech and changes int he industry you can become even more successful then you already are.

As for SS, I have seen the data personally that they have improved my MPG. Yes it is a long term payoff, but, we are in a long term business. A new truck takes yours to pay off. If you only care about what your making right now, you shouldn't invest in anything and stay a company driver. Short term investments always make your cash flow go down. Just because you dont like KR doesn't mean he is wrong. You obviously cant drink the KR koolaid, but a lot of what he says is true and has the math to back it up.

First off, where do you get your info? Many mega own their trucks. Drivers are important, but i bet that mega carrier that doesn't care about um makes way more then you do. A happy medium would be the most profitable.

Give me an example of a highway DRIVE tire that beets the RR of the XONE Line Energy D.

Previous tires were all different casings (firestone, good year mich, Yokahama etc) with bagdag reacaps. I prob would have gained .2 or .3 by switching to low rr duals.

No they dont Richter,ALL or MOST of your fleets 1,000 or more trucks lease, (due to insurance losses and value) See how much you know.......And If you think its "Right" to use and abuse Drivers to become profitable, We dont need ignorant species like you in this business........Peoiple like you are the reason Drivers are taken advantage of...

Tell ya what, Park the Truck, Go back to college and get into another line of work please.......You have the WRONG attitude! Go become a Broker or something

It's not the trucking companies. It's the drivers that allow it to happen. Stuff can only happen to you if you allow it. These drivers need to grow a set of balls and tell the dispatchers or whoever to F off. Once you allow it to happen once it will continue. I stop that #### right away. I've had dispatchers try treating me like I was below them. I went through 4 dispatchers at crst for that reason alone. People can't walk on you if your standing up and don't allow it.
