I always try to mix any useful advice I can offer with some sarcasm or humor so both the little angel and little devil over my shoulders are both satisfied.

Post count doesn't say much anyway. I don't pay much attention to post count unless a post seems like spam and the member only has a couple of posts.

Post counts on a forum, are like statistics to police work. Don't worry about 'em, just get the job done and the numbers will take care of themselves. (Well, until you suddenly find yourself working for an administration that is totally anal. . .)

If they don't matter then why have them?
I'm not trying to create issues, but if the counts don't truly reflect how much time and energy I've invested in these forums and the members therein, then they are of no use to me, personally.
***Addendum
This is only my opinion and therefore is worth little; however, this time I feel I must express myself.
But in stopping the post counts in the social forums the new system has basically morphed into a somewhat classist one, where one post counts more than another's. As one who is not a driver, dispatcher, or otherwise employed in the industry, I have little to contribute in the threads that require more experienced and educated advice and guidance. Heck, I just learned what tandems were this past summer. Therefore, my contribution to this forum is mainly a social one, where I join the conversation in the form of jokes, stories, good vibes, and general advice, along with providing a sympathetic ear, stress relief, and unending support for the experienced forum members striving to make a living in this industry. I consider my time, efforts, and energy in this area just as important as any other forum member's efforts in any other thread, and I feel that this transition has rendered my contribution to this site "irrelevant," which I'm sure is not the intent.
Well, in any case, that's my two cents. Thanks for your time.

Some time ago I took a break from this forum, stopping in only occasionally to see what's happening with old friends. A few days ago I thought maybe I'd log on a bit more regularly to talk with existing friends and perhaps make a few new ones.
I'm not here to build a post count. This is first and foremost a trucker's forum, so I really don't have much relevant information to contribute. But as long as I can keep in touch with friends, I'm fine.Big Don, Giggles the Original, AfterShock and 2 others Thank this. -

Much of the same comments were made when the forum took away the post counts on the Last posters, unmoderated forum, politics and so forth. In fact they took away all of the thank yous from those same forums.
One way to look at this is that it is a trucker forum and many of the comments deal with the issues of the trucking industry more than the social activities.
I have never felt any of the comments that I have made in the social areas to be of great relevance and such.
In addition, I have not been one to even look at the post counts that one makes or even the ones I make.
Just my opinion on the matter and may not be in agreement with the others.teddy_bear6506, Ducks and Big Don Thank this. -
Hmmm, so truckers have no need for any type of social exchange and interaction on TTR? Truckers are not human, then? They do not need a social space where other like-minded folks gather to vent, talk about their day, have fun, tell their tall-tales, share pics, share successes, talk about their kids, wives, girlfriends? Truckers never have children graduate from college, never have serious problems they would like to share, such as a loved one who is terminally ill, never wish to find out how others handle the various and sundry life issues that come their way, like the death of a pet? None of the comments on the above topics are at all relevant, then?
Truckers, sitting in their rigs throughout this vast country, never get lonely? Their loneliness has no relevance? They never want to log on to see what the gang at the diner is up to, see who is hijacking whom, or who in the illness thread require their prayers? These truckers never desire to send a prayer to someone who could use it, or perhaps get one, themselves? That's of little relevance?
So, social interaction is irrelevant to the trucking industry, and as such shouldnt be counted? This invaluable humane service means so little that the protectors of the social arent even worthy of a numerical acknowledgement of their existence? Are psychologists, sociologists, mothers, and lovers also unimportant to truckers?
