Ice drives the blood from a muscle and relieves spams. With no blood the muscle can't contract. Might be unpleasant at first but the results are worth it.

Stretching the lower back in bed before arising. Pull legs to chest gently and individually, then together. That stretch alone relieved my lower back issues. You can find more (and probably better) such stretching advice online, but I think the most important thing is when you do them, before getting out of the bunk and asking them to work.

if you have never gone to a chiropractor, i highly suggest going. not all chiropractors are equal, every time i have ever moved it has taken me a while to find one that i like. i like one that is pretty manual and gets in there and really cracks the hell outta ya and try to get all your issues in one shot vrs one that just goes in there two little cracks and ok come back and see me in again in a week. although the longer you have had the issue the easyer it will be to have it slip back out. your want to be carefull about how you do things for the first few days or you may need to go back sooner. the one that i use now is very good, he does try to scedual another appointment right after ill tell him i don't know what my scheduled is looking like and ill call him when i got some time coming up and i don't call till i feel i need a adjustment again. sometimes a month later, 6 months later sometimes a year later. i don't get calls from his office staff trying to get me to make another appointment.

several years ago i was driving a small 1 ton cargo van on a road that was a sheet of ice, when i see alternating headlights/tail lights coming straight for me from the opposite direction, i put her in the ditch to miss the spinning car, it was a pretty steep ditch and i thought i was going to roll over so i leaned away from the window tensed up and hit the ditch hard. the within an hour i had pain in my back and neck the next morning i could barely get out of bed. made an appointment for the next day. went in just told him i went in the ditch and was in a lot of pain, he feels my neck and back and was able to tell me witch way i leaned and turned my head and the angle i went in the ditch without me telling him just by feeling my neck/ back. instantly had better mobility although still sore, next morning very little soreness was able to move around without really being bothered by it by the following day felt like it never happened.

basically my point is chiropractors have done a world of good for me. iv been going to them sense i was a teenager. but there not all equal if you go to one and don't like the results try a different one next time. don't write them off just cause the first one you try isn't very good

I've had problems with my back for a very long time.Last year,I undid the load bar and, felt pain in my lower back. I walked it off and worked 10 more hours with a slightly sore back. The next morning I couldn't get out of bed and had to take a week off from work because I couldn't even sit up. Getting to the bathroom was done on my hands and knees. My driver's seat has been broken for a month, but it's not important to the company.Today, one of the trucks is getting a new Am/FM radio.I drive circles around this guy,I'm more dedicated, and a bigger asset to them,so WTF ????
I stretch my muscles and find that it helps a great deal.I guess my healthy work environment is %1000 in my own hands.

Now that I am turning and burning again my back feels a lot better. I guess I can't sit for two days anymore.

In front of the boss he yells "Hey Ed that seat sucks, makes the job so much harder " .The boss mumbled something about trying to get it fixed [ yawn !] i told him "Give me the phone no of the guy in charge of repairs so i can see how he likes his comfortable overstuffed chair ".boss wasn't happy ,Too Blanking Bad !.

One tip for all that have back pain . . . have x-rays done at the least before beginning ANY treatment. After 7 years of hell with my lower back I finally found a doctor that recognized (& fixed) the problem that had been staring all the other doctors in the face that they ignored. Not everything can be treated with ice either. Cold temps are the worst thing for muscle spasms, and I can't handle being exposed to cold temps at all. I had a spinal anomaly called a lumbosacral transitional vertebra (LSTV). It was causing problems in a couple of different ways, one of which being that it was pressing right on my L5 nerve root. It was also putting pressure on my sacrum and my ilium (hip bone).
