For the most part, everything takes place at orientation. It comes down to cost, criminal background checks are expensive, so they are not done until you arrive at orientation. I do believe the previous employment background does start shortly after application, along with DMV check (I am not positive on that, but I will ask recruiting). Most of the problems I see when people are turned away is because they did not put down accidents, criminal records etc.. depending on the conviction, most of the time that does not disqualify you, you may have to do an interview with security, but lying on the application will definately send you packing at some point.

Terminals still have to answer to corporate, and corporate does not like hearing things like this. State what happened (you dont have to identify yourself if you dont want), what day and time, and they create a file on the terminal. Then they send what you stated to the Terminal Manager and he/she has to explain why it happened, or what they are going to do to fix it. If someone starts getting lots of negative quality assurance feedback, that is noticed from the terminal level all the way up. Also, this is not just for negative things, its for positive. If you see someone do something good that you think needs to happen all the time, call it in. Positive reinforcement works in your favor also...and helps shape what you like to see.

Extremely good advice! Also follow up with a call to your FM on it. Heck, if I was out of SLC, I would have called Shelly directly, I know she doesnt put up with that, or Troy the TM.

Thanks for letting me know about the Quality Assurance program. I wish I had known about that when I was down in Laredo. Is it too late to make a report now, although it happened last month?

Yes Laredo weekend dispatch at the window can be hmmmm Aholes at times. The guy thats there during the day M-F is very good. I wont delivery there on the weekend it seems they are there own little world down there. When I had a t-call there on Friday night. They would not let me T-call it unless I had a pre plan. Then they said I have to unload on Monday. Needless to say i was not a happy camper. I had a load going there last week same thing I called my DM asked him if he can get me a pre- plan before I excepted the load going down there he said I don't think so I said ok no problem. I just declined the load marked x on HOS and on comments just said don't need a 34hr reset

Also I start the fruit of the loom dedicated out of Gulfport. Monday if that does not work out I am going to make sure I switch my home terminal from Memphis to Houston just because of what you wrote VICKW

"I started a fun project, recently, all my DM and FM that were not previous drivers, have to go on the road for a week with a driver from their fleet. I think its an eye opener for them."

    Wes,

After reading the thread I've compiled the info you said I should get together. Now, who in the corporate offices do I need to contact and send this stuff to? You can PM me the contacts to send it to or post it here, whatever works for you.

You can, but its like spanking the puppy for tearing up your shoe last month. Probably better just to do it going forward. Easier to verify who was working and keep things fresh in everyones minds.
