Hopper trailers are commonly used for grain hauling.
jpflumignan Thanks this. -
Hauling grain and feed ingredients was something I enjoyed a lot. Would love to get back in it if the opportunity comes up. The only thing I didn't like was the long lines at the feed mills.

How much do they avg earn.

I absolutely loved hauling grain, did it for 11 years. Just remember, it's not considered otr experience so most companies won't consider it as verifiable experience.

Depends on multiple factors, such as who you work for, and where you're hauling to and from.
-
As a current grain hauler I can say every situation is different. Depends if you are o/o or company driver. As well as what you would haul, corn/beans/wheat etc, or feed products, or both. most hoppers with high clearance can't generally haul max payload of feed ingredients. Many variables without knowing specifics of interest.

If you can manage it try finding an hourly wage gig, it's the best way to go when you're sitting in grain lines all day.

I worked for a Co-op in Iowa on an hourly basis as a part time employee and with seasonal work I would work full time. I was getting $13/hr. three years ago. No log book. I also would haul fertilizer and some liquid anhydrous booster that was HazMat. I learned how to float gears while doing this work, as I was shifting a lot with stop and go driving and short trips.
I only wanted part time and I didn't mind some full time during the seasonal work. I liked the work and the people I worked with. -
I use to work for HJ Baker & Bro. their company drivers (I was told but I'm not 100% sure) made about $80 a load with 2~3 loads a day. I know most feed grain haulers get paid by the weight/load.
