Thanks, GYPSY65. How did you get your TWIC and when do you normally obtain it? Thanks.

Really? I believe that the Class-D permit book, in NY, was free. But that was back like 4-5 years ago, so it could have changed. I'll look into that, Drivers girl. I appreciate the FYI. How much is it where you're at?

I went to the port, filled out paperwork and they did a background check then had me come back to pick up my card, think its good for several years

If obtain it you mean before cdl? I already had a cdl when I did mine

Yeah, I did mean that. I guess I'll cross that path once I get there, or at least ask my school when I attend. Thanks for the help, though!

Its not much. Was $28 for a manilla envelope with the pages loose leaf in it. The regular license is the same just cheaper lol.

In the DMV CDL manual, do they have the necessary information for all of the endorsement tests? Thanks.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED to know for the "tests" IS IN THAT BOOK! Except Hazmat which you will need to look at the FMC small handbook.
EVERYTHING you need to be out here in America, in ALL WEATHER - YOU WILL learn as you sit, on your free/off time at the truck stops talking to the old Road Warriors or on here chatting with the ones here!

Yes - you can test AFTER you pass the CDL 3 part test (General knowledge, Combination vehicles, & Air Brakes) for tanker, doubles, triples, & passenger - but for the Hazmat you NEED TO study for that because the 'whole idea' is that YOU learn when, where, & HOW to deal with the chemicals you would carry in-case of emergency.

I have: passenger, tanker, Hazmat - (tanker & Hazmat are known on your license as an "X" endorsement) besides my Passport.
