Tipically the drivers living closes to Richmond & tri cities are ask to come by for an interview face to face. While here they would have sent you cross street for drug screening as well. The guy you talked to was our safety guy. Abilene passed on my uncle as well for an interview with safety, there's probably nothing personal on your behalfYardDart Thanks this.

And living so close, why wouldn't you go in for a face to face? I did. And am very happy at this point that Abilene gave me a chance. Don't get me wrong, it hasn't always been roses and sunshine, but for me, right now, it's good. I even turned down a local job to stay here. But, if the right local position became available, I would have to re-evaluate.YardDart Thanks this.

I Live in Oklahoma City and flew to Wahington DC with the wife (She went on work related trip) I rented a car and drove to Richmond to do a face to face. For several reasons. 1st) to show the company that I was truly intrested in being a driver for thier company. 2nd) Chance to talk to other drivers and get thier opions of the company. You will always find drivers at the terminal. 3) get a chance to look at thier equipment first hand. 4) get to see a glimpse of thier operation. Just makes since to do a face to face. Of I almost forgot. One of my old employeers said I was not rehireable so while I was there I got out my phone and said I was intrested in coming back to comapny and after giving my SS number they ask when can I get to oreintation but on my paperwotk that abiliene sent them for work verication they but i wan not rehireable so i got to disbute something that wasn't true. Doing a face to face is best for you and the company. Its like buting a car without a test drive. Good answer wjejwan23 and to top things off I did this face to face back in OCT and didnt plan on starting until Jan because of daughter health issues. Now I should be in orentation on 3 Feb just keep them posted as the weeks pass. Just my 2 Cents and rebelchick totally agree with your comments on this.

i work for sysco right now i cant get any days off during the week to make it up there since we bought out us foods its gotten pretty crazy, and if its cuz they wana see how many/what my tattoos look like before they hire me then i dont wana work there anyways.. I'd rather have someone that dresses nice with tattoos go into a customer rather then some guy that weighs 400 lbs stinks and has his belly hanging out but if that is there choice that is fine i respect that

Steve just speaking as a 52 y.o. rookie and not having been with the company, Abilene is a family run business, and I believe being clean cut and presenting a professional image is pretty high priority with these folks. If I were you, I would wear a long sleeve shirt and get a shave and a haircut (if necessary). I truly believe this company IS worth it. I'd like to see you reconsider your stance, and come in and meet with these folks and get a true barometer where you stand. Good luck whatever you decide bud. Happy New Year. You are too close not to give this a shot.

i dont think i have a image problem i work for sysco now going to customers and they dont have a problem with them i was actually told during my interview of how nice i dressed for it.. i just felt like i was pre judged.. frock bros who i drove for is a small company around 50 trucks and image was huge for them and they didnt have a problem with it.. i dont know i called them back today and asked them to reconsider and they said that there committee had decided i would be a good fit for the company

S.D.'s Girl checking in from Arkansas. This was our 6th day on the road and I am continuously learning things about the trucking industry. One thing I have learned is that communication between the driver and his company is very important in order for a delivery to be successful. Breakdowns in this system can cause frustration on the driver's part, as well as, the customer's. On the plus side of my learning experiences, I have discovered that most male Truckers are very considerate and respectful of a fellow Trucker's lady. SD said that this is typically the unwritten rule within the Trucking family which I think is awesome! Thank you so much for making me feel comfortable, safe and welcomed into your working environment. Be safe and I will check in later on down the road.
