Health insurance is such a problem. Between all of the people that don't have health insurance that go to the hospital, and the fact that the hospitals are owned by big for profit companies, it's no wonder that it is going up, up, up, with no end in sight.
A plan that you actually pay for that has a $6,000 deductible sounds like a ridiculous idea. Yet for people that are relatively healthy, it might be the best option.
You will never, never use your health insurance (you never get to your deductible) unless you have some kind of serious operation or serious health problem. But that's got to be better than losing your home and all that you have worked for.
The thing that gets me, though, is that those plans aren't cheap. If they were $50 a month, I guess that wouldn't be too bad. But if I remember correctly, they were like $200+.
For me, it's either that or $450 to $500 a month for a better plan. A little more than that and you could pay a small mortgage or two car payments. And that's for one single guy without a family.
Now, in addition to a truck maintenance fund, we need a health insurance fund, just for the deductible. What a sad state of affairs.
