So i am provisionally doing my 2013 taxes, the first full year of being an O/O. Where do you you list the Per Diem allowance - as a schedule C deduction?. Last year the allowance was listed on the 2106 form 'unreimbursed employee expenses' which obviously does not apply to me this year. Thanks for the help.

Schedule C Meals on the lower right of the front page. Do not have the new form yet, but you choose DOT and insert the 80% of the meal per diem.
Went to the irs website and it is 24b. -
Great, thank you very much.
One more question, self employment tax is paid on my nett income after all deductions and expenses incl per diem, just like income tax, correct? -
Yes, just follow the instructions, or better yet , buy a tax program.

Thanks again, I've got a program but have not yet started to input the numbers. I'm just doing a rough P&L for 2013 right now and want to send in my final quarter 2013 payment.

I have not ordered the software for w2, 1099 or taxes for my clients yet. Probably do that tomorrow before I leave on the next trip. Been home since 12/18

Been home since 12/18 too. Probably head out next week. Just wanted to get an idea on 2013 before I left.

There are several inexpensive tax programs. I known someone who uses TaxAct (I believe) on line. They fill in the blanks and it spits out their tax return. They are not in trucking, so I don't know how good of a program it is for this industry, but she says that it is a good program. There are several other programs that can do the same thing for not too much money.
