The purpose of the (anecdotal) Case Study is for educational value. To see how the modification affects my trucks MPG. Where those results are easily viewed by another driver. Where that driver can have another reference point before making the interpretation to make this modification, (free). Versus, pay per use. -

I'm wondering if an ISX cam would benefit from the MB treatment since they have a problem with premature wear. Mine was worn out at 366,000 miles and of course out of warranty. Replacement cost was $5400. Ouch. I've heard this is a common problem with ISX.

Do you realize how ridiculous that statement sounds? Are we expected to believe that you can tell, by the seat of your pants, that your truck is rolling as good today as it was when installed 2.5 years ago?
That being said, any increase in fuel mileage, regardless of where it comes from, will save the owner of the truck money. Why does it matter if the increase in fuel mileage comes from different driving habits or a newly installed product? It doesn't. Saving money is saving money. -
Mr New Guy who joined up last month maybe should do some research on this site on my extensive testing of products when it comes to fuel mileage. Every drop of fuel I use with detailed notes is on www.mygauges.com and here is the first 3 quarters in 2013 of my IFTA Reports that show 9+ mpg for all 3 quarters. My fuel mileage used to be in the low 6s back in 2010 and earlier.......

I'm not new to the industry nor to this site. I also was not doubting your results. Did you read the whole post? I just commented on your statement that you can tell that your truck rolls as good today as the day the bearings were installed. How is that a testimonial to how good the product is? It isn't.
The only way to truly prove a product works is to minimize the variables. Take the driver out of the loop. Testing this product in a controlled environment over the same road, with the same weight, equipment and weather would be very revealing. As someone mentioned before, the fact that you are conscious of an improvement to the equipment, with increased fuel mileage as a desired result, will cause you to change your driving habits. That is a good thing from a business stand point, but not from a testing standpoint. There's no way to know how much of the improvement is you and how much is the product.
As I said before, it doesn't matter. You increased your fuel mileage which puts more money in your pocket. -
If you would have read my full testing results that involved a dedicated roundtrip with same weights and route that lasted over a years time that started with MB wheel bearings on tractor that picked up 4/10ths mpg, then we MB rear end gears that added another 8/10ths mpg and last we MB the tranny to add another 1/2 mpg that put my truck from the mid 7s to low 9s mpg, Sorry, but driving habits can't make that much difference considering the truck has never been close to that before and has stayed in the 9s since then.

I have verified cooler hub, rear end and tranny temperatures. Especially the tranny that never gets over 200 degrees when it used to get over 200 all the time before MB.
Note: The temp gun is great to check for underinflated tires and dragging brakes that both cost mpg.Last edited: Jan 4, 2014
