In cab lift axle control

Our trucks are wired into the TRL AUX .....

 

Yes that's all it does... The TRL AUX switch in the cab would control the AUX PIN on the trailer which would be wired to the lift axle solenoid... Most lift axles can be manually controlled from the trailer as well but if the axles don't steer then this wouldn't be a good choice because you can rip a tire right off the rim when making a turn with a heavy loaded trailer...

 

The other option besides electric is to use a third glad hand. Run the line to a relay valve for your lift.

 

If you're going to CA your lift axle controls cannot be inside the cab and axle and controls must be state certified. There are two inspectors for the whole state, 1 in the north and 1 in the south.

 

Mine on my flatbed (and every other spread I've pulled). Is just a switch on the dash with another pig tail that plugs into the trailer and it lets the pressure off the front or rear axle depending on the way it's setup. Hauling cattle I had two switches one for the front one for the rear. She I had to do axle weights I'd flip the front switch when I had to axle the front one and flip it back down and flip up the back one when I axles the rear axle. It was quite the setup. But that's why there illegal in some states cause we used to do that.

 

every trailer i've hauled. one otr and rest were local companies.

all had manual valves inside a plastic box on the trailer.

 

I had no idea about CA,,sheesh, that state is just fricken stupid. Anyway, nice read on how different the setups can be.
