Spent 13 days off over Christmas ... then came on down to Lathrop last night. Got a 90 day BIT, my permits up to date and my IFTA sticker today ... and the good news, 3 day wait on loads. Snagged a couple of trailer moves for the week end. Then p/u Monday and head to KY.

Side note, our refrigerated brethren have moved into Lathrop in force.

my old mentor was telling me central was shacking up our Lathrop terminal now, still plenty of parking there or they killing that now?

woke up to the boss calling me telling me he switched my loads around and 1306 LA added a load so once again I had to go to my favorite store, at least this time the other driver put the first load into the correct dock so I got the easier one. One driver told me I could easily pull the trailer and make a right u-turn around the dock and wall to park along side the building facing the street instead of making a left then a tight uturn etc, he failed to tell me he does this in a day cab, I thought I had myself screwed for a few minutes since I could not make the full turn without hitting a wall or cars, few pull ups and slowly getting my trailer to swing to the left after leaving the dock on the right I finally was able to back up past the dock then set myself up to swing wide to clear that dock wall. I swear I would love to strangle the person who designed some of these docks lol.

Just made it home a little bit ago to do a 34, its slow tomorrow anyway with like 18 loads total mostly local, planner said maybe Saturdays might be my reset days especially since its the slowest day of the week. Boss told me and another driver he let go 4 drivers to keep the 2 of us on board which the other driver will most likely be working the Vegas stores with me once we take them over. Im looking forward to those, nice easy drives and miles and no LA 405 to deal with. I just have to keep the boss happy and keep running hard accepting everything they throw at me, so far the planner said the boss is happy with me.

I took a split 8 at Lathrop midday yesterday. Plenty of parking available, but I did notice a lot of drivers in the lounge and overheard a driver begging for a load... ANY load... with the night dispatcher just before I pulled out to get a load. I feel lucky to have snagged something out from under the other drivers at Lathrop...

... on the other hand I was supposed to be starting a 34 last night in Mira Loma, so that will be delayed by a day...

... now I'm told I can't t-call this load so I'll need to take my 34 and do a live unload at 7:00 am on Monday in Rancho Cucumonga before getting on the team truck with my new partner running dedicated with TJ Maxx.

Spent last night at the Pilot in Lost Hills, CA. Had hours to run further but got a yawn attack. Went in to buy a pack of smokes and all their tobacco shelves were bare!? I asked if someone bought out all their stock. Nope, they lost their license... DOH!

yeah I was at that pilot 2 days ago, they sold to a minor I believe, there was another Pilot that did the same a couple months ago I think it was Dunnigan, CA. You would think the company would make it stricter if they keep getting in trouble.

Better un-upgrade that tranny then! So 7 plus over 2 mpg...you were seriously getting over 9 mpg?

    kidding....

    9 to a 13?

Tried running in 12th at a bit slower speed? May just be a matter of finding your sweet spot again with different gears.

I'm in a 2013 Cascadia with a nuetered Cummins (400hp 1550 torque) and haven't gotten up to 7 mpg since I've been in it. I was in a 2013 Volvo before with a 485hp 1750 torque ISX and it averaged 7.6 for the 235k miles I drove it.

Seems like they would figure out that turning down the power doesn't make for better fuel economy.

It's the same thinking that if you grant serious pre-existing condition people health insurance for the same cost as healthy people, and subsidize the people that can't afford it in the first place, the overall costs will decrease for everyone simply because a few more people are signed up.

It's called 'short-sighted brain-deadness', and we can all see where that is leading.

Towanda, KS. Got a b-service done this morning to see if that might help, and from Brazil, IN to here, 6.0mpg, and yes Josh, on some loads I would get up to and at times over 9mpg. When I first got this upgraded, pulled a 6k load from PHX to Laredo, and most of the way a tail wind and could not bet better than 7.1. Buddy of mine has the same year truck as mine, pulling 44k and keeping his foot in it, almost 7.8. Today was even running 62mph and it made no difference.
