Appreciate the replys, just some background,,,, 1st accident in my life, I don't think age had anything to do with it, I think the Owner had to let me go because he is a small operator, the Insurance Co decided that they would not insure me in one of his Trucks. As for older Drivers, no problem, couple years ago I met one that was 83 and still driving for 1 of the largest carriers. The one comment that said "hope I'm not still driving at 71,, I hope so too but, I like driving and may find another Co that will take me on, have a hard time sitting around the house, sold my boat a few years ago and can't play Golf.

Be safe and have a Great Day

In O/O and small fleet its a fact that insurance companies control who sits behind the wheel.

Yeah, there's lots of drivers in their 70's still out there, even a few in their 80's……….but from an insurance company viewpoint, 70 is old, not dead, but not 45 or 50 either. Airline pilots are done at age 60, mandatory. Because, statistically, 70 yr olds aren't as alert as youngsters. And I'll be 70 in 2 years, but feel as alert as a 30 yr old.
