My husband says that sign on the trailer pointing towards the cab of the truck that says our most valuable resource sits here, they are not talking about the driver they are talking about the tractor. Hubby says he knows from experience because they don't treat him like he is valuable.

Lol nothing against them but the first time I saw that 'We Value Are Drivers' billboard taking up the entire side of the trailer it just raised a red flag for me. Then you have the goofy looking DART guy on the Dart trailers... and the list goes on. If I see stuff like that, or a trailer with the company's phone # with a big fat cpm quote or whatever, all I can think now is "Well, I'm not gonna drive for them." Same goes with any company that has posters in the truckstop with some drivers laughing and smiling with each other by a sparkling new truck like they're on broke back mountain. One thing Ive noticed is all these supposed high paying companies recruiting ads have one thing in common... all the driver posterboys are outside of their truck, not driving. So perhaps there is some truth in those things .

This is so very true. I started with Werner and when I left I never in a million years thought I would work for a company that made Werner look good. I kid you not, Crete is a joke. Not only are the people illogical and unorganized but their equipment is crap.

Crete is a great company if you sign on for the home weekly fleet! You do short BS loads all week, and the day before you are due home... you realize that you are 800 miles away from the house, and out of drive time because you spent it all delivering @30 each drop and hook! I avg about 2800 miles a week, and about 12 good hours at home weekly. Would be the perfect set up if the recruiter didn't lie and tell me home on WEEKENDS. I spend an avg of 1 hour fighting with ASSett "manager" to give me better loads, and 15 minutes with my terminal manager to make her do so! 3 more months and I bid farewell. The communication is poor all across the board. Had a better experience driving for "TransAm"

That explains why 3/4 of there drivers look so mad all the time pass them and wave they just frown lol
-
More than likely on the phone with ASSett "manager", or trying to get through to breakdown, all while suppose to be on home time. Leave little time to focus on driving,so surely you can't expect us to find the time to wave! I mean our 62 mph truck is nice, but the out of whack alignment don't support letting the wheel go!
The pay is decent though!

u r sooo right b cuz da luv of my life can't never make it home

Wow, did this thread open my eyes. I will say the recruiters made Crete sound OK and I was extended a job offer. Now I am gonna have to rethink before accepting.

The reason your miles are down at Crete is because of their pay system. They now have OTR drivers that just got done with their trainer along with the home every weekend drivers who are getting paid 6 to 7 CPM less than the veteran drivers. For every truck that goes 10,000 at 6 CPM less than one driven by a veteran driver the company saves $600. Take that times the 2,500 trucks that are getting those lower rates and the company saves $1,500,000 per month in wages plus another $93,000 in SSI taxes. That works out to over $19,000,000 a year.
