I agree Mack. Driving a power steering equipped truck with non-functional power steering is like flying a 747 without the hydraulics.
It can be done, but is far from safe, and far from safely/adequately maneuverable.

If the company can't pay their truck payments what makes a driver think he/she is gonna get paid?

Bus ticket or not you have at least one thumb I assume.

First rule of thumb is don't leave home if you are flat broke.

I would have driven their truck home.. A company that broke sure ain't paying dues to belong to DAC anyway.

You'd be surprised what slip-and-fall lawyers can use against a truck driver.

Heh, gotta agree with that. Manual steering is so much easier to drive then power steering that has failed. After having the power steering go out in a yard truck at one company, I now understand the attraction of suicide knobs.

I don't know how anyone can drive a vehicle that the power steering quit working. Its almost impossible. It happened to me,the line busted or something.I was at Walmart and across the steet was Petro.Used a half gallon of oil for power steering fluid just to get it to the Petro. My boss kept trying to talk me into making it to his shop, but wasn't happening and wasn't about to try.Its up to the driver to get it fixed and don't let any company talk you into waiting till it gets back to the yard. Not worth it.I can be just as stubborn as companies are..
