What's With The Unprofessional Drivers?? Almost Crashed Today...

I dunno.

Swerving and putting yourself into an uncontrolled situation doesn't sound too professional, or experienced, to me.

Sure, that driver was an unsafe jerk, but you WAY over-reacted.
Letting up on the gas to provide more room, a tap on the brake if more was needed.

 

A lot of drivers...public or "professional" just don't care.

 

Maybe that other truck driver was trying to avoid something up ahead? Just give em all room - a hard thing to do with 12" of the white stuff on the ground.

Gotta anticipate what you think the " other " guy's gonna do and prepare, especially at 3 in the morning. Who knows, dude might have been drowsy and "unprofessional ".

 

ok I hate to say this but apperntly you was going to fast for the conditions I mean you had to swerve to miss him ok you a bit faster than him but you are fishtailing and if you getting far enough up on him to be headed to the front of his drives You was WAY faster since I would assume you let off the gas as you swerved and did not get back into it but hey what do I know I am just a dumb truck driver.

But I do agree there is a huge lack of professionalism out there these day seen to many turn on the signal as they change lanes at the same token it seems that turn signal is a cue for four wheelers to speed up.

 

Do what I do... don't trust other trucks. I know it's kind of cynical but I generally assume any other truck around me has a dimwit between the seat and the steering wheel. Especially straight cubes and dry vans. I've seen way too much #### to be able to trust a white freightshaker with a van behind it anymore. Granted not all drivers in those trucks are dummies ... but most are.

I base this assumption on the amount of trucks that signal me to change lanes WAY too soon after I pass them.. repeatedly (more than once within 10 seconds), when I'm only 50 feet or so clear of them, at 3 am on an empty highway. Hell, I can stay in the hammer lane for 15 minutes and I'm not going to bother anyone. I'd much rather have 500-600 feet between me and the guy behind me than 50 feet. The fact that most trucks on the highway are guilty of this is pretty depressing not to mention #### dangerous.

I'll add something here. For those who don't drive in places like Toronto and Montreal (the populations mentality is key here) you likely aren't aware of how people behave out here. There's a reason they call it a "MTL lane change", people just don't move. There are three steps to this maneuver 1. turn on signal 2. check mirror while you let it blink 3 times 3. Start changing lanes slowly and hold your ground.

If you enter Montreal in moderate traffic and want to get off on 15s for example you have to pull this #### to be able to take that left hand offramp. Left lane is no trucks and the section where you're actually allowed to use it before you hit the offramp is by no means long enough to allow you to change lanes courteously.

 

My turn signal blinking is "Not asking for your permission to move over", " It is a warning to other drivers that I'm moving over". That is what I was told by a Hwy patrol in Ca. a few weeks ago. I got caught in the #2 lane, and no one would let me back into the #3 lane. CHP pulled me over, and when I said I was trying to get over,and that is what he told me. He also said "turn on your signal, let it blink 3 times and start moving over. They will let you in"

 

wow I turn mine on and watch the cars gas it up they go from three or four car lengths to a quarter of a car super fast I always wonder if the blinker isn't a yellow light to cars LOL

he will say that till you fallow that and get in a wreck then its you have to make sure you have enough room to safely change lanes
