I always stayed at the 66. Good buffet. Wasn't my favorite place to shower though.

Every time I was at the TA (only fuel, never stayed) I was approached by a lizard. Hate that place!

    OSD rant...

Last night I had 10 cases of lemonade rejected. I called into Dispatch, unfortunately that worthless ### that used to be my Driver manager answered, I followed up with an OSD QC... I heard nothing and called in this morning promptly when the office opened and guess what? They knew nothing about it.

WTF is wrong with people? Some one make a God ###### decision. I have been sitting here for 12 hours waiting on someone to decide what to do with product that totals less than $160 at retail let alone whole sale.

Does anyone in Dallas know how to make a decision?

    Crazy_Aardvark and Corporal_Clegg Thank this.

OSD sucks.... actually had one of them threaten me, and told me I did not know how to do my job, at a union shop where the drivers are not allowed past the caged entrance... and it was a 3 dropper meat load, and that was the first drop... yep got to spend the afternoon and night on the street, and then continue on the next day... all because the checker could not count. The supervisor found the 20 cases of hamburger that evening during the nightly check.

Delivered a load of Hershey candy to the warehouse beside the 24/7 TS in Bakersfield. Had one case, 24 ct of kit kats damaged... First response was I was going to have to drive to Long Beach CA, for that one case. I had a preplan to pickup at bolt farms, 2 blocks away... Kindly asked if that made sense, to drive that far, waste all that fuel and time, for one case. She had to ask Hershey she says, but then her supervisor in the back ground said to dump it, and she would deal with hershey. Stevens does not have the final say on OSD.

One of the bigger problems with OS&D is the driver makes a note on his empty call (Do you have OS&D?) and then waits for an answer.
you need to send in a macro 22, and then follow it up with phone calls. forget your DM. They have no power to do anything. They simply send a message to the OS&D dept.
At night, there is more latitude to make a decision. But often times we have to call someone at home to make the decision, so that's not done unless we need an answer now. Such as a preplan that needs to be picked up right away. Even if you have a preplan, but it doesn't pickup until noon the next day, everyone has to wait for OS&D to make the decision.
So often protocol overweighs good sense.
Notify the customer, wait for a decision, then relay that back to the driver.
But that decision may be slow in coming.
No one looks to see it's $39 worth of tomato juice or $42 worth of gummy bears.
Tyson is usually the best to deal with since the driver can call direct, get a disposition number and they will often make a decision on the spot.
You're right when you say, "does anyone make a decision around there?!"
Stevens is a company that asks two questions: "What went wrong?" and "Who do we blame?". It is a constant battle to make sure you CYA.
So often times, common sense decisions are not made because you may be brought up as the goat.
Never touch anything you can avoid is the common philosophy, but I can't blame people for that.
It isn't fun to be pistol whipped because someone else forgot to load the gun.

They did that to me on Grad fleet early.on at Holcomb... I think its a right of passage, the loads steadily get better if you hang in there.
