I know the law in Pa says that all a previous employer is allowed to do is verify what you told them, I have actually witnessed employer's complete disregard of this law, what to do about that is another issue.

I'm trying to compare Cypress and Mcelroy, as to who is the best company. Does anyone know and average that they make a week with either company
-
Hi There,
I work for McElroy, so I can't speak for Cypress. I started at .38 a mile and was raised to .39 a mile after six months. I get paid the same empty or loaded. SO - if it takes you 200 miles to pick up and 300 miles to deliver, then you get paid for 500 miles at .38 or better (depending on your experience). Some loads have minimum pay requirements (usually $125), so your average works out higher. My wife and baby and I are on the insurance, so after that and taxes, I clear anywhere from $700 to $900 per week during the "building season". It was slow last winter, but that is the nature of flatbed. Where you live has a lot to do with where you go and how much you make. I'm in Va. Beach, but friends who live more south make more. Good luck and be prepared to WORK if you want to drive flatbed!

I would take mcelroy and not even consider cypress at all.

were you fresh out of school, or experienced. Also my main concern is wondering how hard the final road test is and what they require on that.? I will be training in pleasant hill hopefully did you get home during training on the weekends as well. And whats the furthest youv'e driven. -
Well I just found out about 3 hours ago that i was turned down by Maverick because McElroy put a "no rehire" on my DAC. I thought i left on good terms. But i guess not. Maverick told me that its due to unstable work history and the bad DAC. I left MTL back in march 07 with 2 years 2 weeks and 220,000 good miles. I took 2 months to get a job back last may. mostly by choice. Worked for us foods here local till march 08 and was laid off because we lost the sonic account. I got a months pay and 3 months paid insurance. Also i am getting unemployment, all while moving in to a brand new house in the past month. I called up a few old MTL drivers and they said if you ever leave and there is one hint of something that they would mark your dac. So now i wonder, i have put in for local driving jobs( conway, estas, fedex) and was wondering why i wasnt getting any call backs. Im going to try to call MTL then dac and see if there is a chance to get this fixed. I only want flatbed, weekends off like i use to have. good luck me finding that..i bet swift wont even take me...LOL.. not that i would do that.

All of the magic words were placed in these posts above that can get this removed from his record, and get the company placing the statement on the file in civil liability.
