    Mark,

Yesterday our 710 started having problems with sound. It would just say "turn left" and then no road name or hwy number. Today it said the normal "proceed to this route" and then nothing. I tried to do a diagnostic and it did the same thing. I then tried a reset, same thing, except now there is no clicking when you punch the keys and no sound at all. It did do a slight word and stopped. We were going to try an external speaker, but I guess you have to use a special jack for it or one from Rand? Help!

    Mark Kling Thanks this.

Speaker sounds like it went out.

You can use an external Speaker. I think it takes the either the 2.5mm or the 3.5mm plug.

    Thanks,
    Mark

I hooked mine into my radio into the aux port. Makes hearin those directions crystal clear.
I tried a cb speaker and I couldn't hardly hear it. Volume was way too low.

I wanted to come on here to publically thank Mark for everything he has done. I know a lot of the things he does goes unnoticed and likely just unknown to others. That being said, I feel I need to let others know what AWESOME customer service Mark provides. My husband and I have been avid Rand McNally GPS users since 2010. We started out with the 700 unit and then went to the 710. We accidently dropped our unit in 2011, Mark was quick to help us. When our USB port was giving us a problem, Mark was again quick to help us. A few days ago our speaker went out and once again Mark was to the rescue. He takes personal care of people, devoting his own time to help. He doesn't skip a beat to help. Rand McNally is lucky to have such a huge asset working and representing them. I couldn't be happier with our unit! Someone like Mark makes our devotion to Rand continue, and continue well into the future. I know I can always count on his help!! Thanks Mark!!

I have a 510 and the same thing happened, slowly lost the sound. I just figure Samatha is made because I don't always take her advice
