Why do you say I know nothing about it? I researched MPG before i decided on my truck. "fuel gauges" is a resource that shows average MPG for all drivers that use the software. The volovs are consistently lower then the FL. Everyone I've talked to to that drives a Volvo confirms that. If you want a volvo becuase they are a great truck, then go a head and buy one. They are awesome and beautiful in side. But if you want MPG there isnt much that will beat a freightliner glider.

One of the many reasons its heavier.

The Volvo is heavier so it gets worse mpg? What KR site did you read that at? I owned two preemission Detroit Columbias. I know what kind of fuel mileage they get. That's real world experience. You did your "research" based on clowns that are going to tell that a Turbo 3000d gave them a 0.5 mpg increase. You have no real world experience with what your talking about, heck you're still a greenhorn in this industry. You didn't even know that your Detroit had a blowby tube until months after you bought it. You were so adamant about putting super singles of your new truck that you failed to do an in depth inspection and had to deal with major repairs. You were terminated from Landstar for speeding, which tells me you don't practice what you preach. In a previous post, you said that you only post about stuff you know about. You don't have a glider, a pre emission truck, a Volvo, or anything else in this thread. So what do you "know"?Joetro Thanks this.

I missed some issues on my truck do to not knowing the mechanical side well enough. I have continued to learn as much as i can since then so i don't make the same mistakes again. Prior to buying this truck I did not claim to know everything mechanical about this truck. How did me wanting to put Supper Singles on my truck have anything to do with me inspecting the mechanical aspect of the truck. I would have put singles on any truck I bought. None of my repairs were "Major" but yea I did have some setbacks. I also learned from my mistakes, so its worth it.
As for my speeding ticket, it was 40 in a 35. So yea I do normally drive slower when at cruise speeds then others. I don't drive 70 and thus I do "practice What I preach". Also, i do "preach" about fuel savings, but I also understand why driver go fast and thus don't cruse at 55 either. I agree mostly with KR, but I have my own experience and opinion as well.
You say "You don't have a glider, a pre emission truck, a Volvo, or anything else in this thread. So what do you "know"?" I have done tons of research on gliders since I was considering going that route before I determined it was to expensive to start that way. My next truck will be a glider. I do have a pre emission truck. I don't have a volvo but have done enough research to know they get worse mpg then a FL if your comparing similarly specd trucks.
I did my research based on real world numbers. Real drivers post their fill ups and odometer readings. The software figures out fuel mpg. These are real drivers, with real trucks and real data, not trucker speak. I also read tons on this forum to learn what real drivers are saying. Yea drivers may lie or exaggerate, but general conciseness is Volvos if speced the same as a aero FL get worse MPG. -
It seems to a trend that several have members have noticed.Joetro Thanks this.

You guys think I dont know because im young and dont have 20 years under my belt. I know a lot more then you think.

Tell us more about your 2006 EGR and vpod laden "pre-emission" engine. I am no rival for your "knowledge and research". You're full of bull excrement.
Had you spent more time researching the mechanical side of trucks instead of the latest and super duperest fuel saving item this week, you could have avoided some expenses. Those expenses have far surpassed any "savings" you'll see with super singles over today's duals.Boardhauler Thanks this. -
Sorry OP for crapping on your thread. I'm bowing out now. Good luck with your purchase.

No, you know a whole lot less than you think. You're the same type of person that came up with the new HOS regs; No real world experience, but you read stuff, so you think it makes you an expert. You should see if the FMCSA has any openings.

At least, I don't have to deal with plastic chrome. Plastic chrome will just peel off.Joetro Thanks this.
