I always thought they took good care of them, but like anything else, you get some drivers who take care of their trucks and others who just don't care.
Used TMC trucks?

I know of the 9 that he has a few you can tell were better maintained by the driver than were the others. Some people could care less how much dirt and grime they drag into a truck and the sleeper carpet. Like I said if you call and talk to Scott in truck sales there tell him that you are very picky about the condition of the truck and want to look them over real close before you buy. When you test drive it you will know if the transmission has been abused or not. Like I said they do not do a lot to them to get ready for sale.
Not sure how many of the 387's they are still taking out of service. Last time I was there he took me to the main shop up the street from the truck sales and they must have had 25 or so sitting waiting to go into shop to be put out for sale. These had nothing done at all and I looked over them and you could tell right away the ones that had been taken care of and which ones had not. As far as oil changes and general maint. I think very few of the big fleets will ever service a truck and do preventative maint. like a O/Op does. They see them more as tools and less as your livelihood and you only source of income as we do.
Bottom line like everyone says it is you are buying a used truck and there is always risk involved. I have owned 5 and always
took the risk. That being said I understand that a person is trying to minimize it the best they can when starting out and do not want to buy a lemon and end up losing truck over breakdown repairs. I wish you the best if you do buy one.redgod7 Thanks this. -
They are selling all the 387 trucks.

Oil changes are every 30k confirmed. If I'm not mistaken CAT recommends that. In my opinion 10k oil changes are a waste of money and oil. Synthetic can go 100k easy with filter changes in between.

He is supporting his son in going after his passion. What is it to you? You saying that makes you sound jealous.

I just posted some info ( actually a comment I have heard from a few TMC drivers ) no more no less , could care less about what they do so no need for the JEALOUS COMMENT , I could have also noted that they are selling off the company to the EMPLOYEES so maybe not spending $ to make the books look better but that also has nothing to do with me .

Those would be minimum recommended OCI's for fleets running from 0 to 500,000 miles then trading to someone who will sell to whoever has to deal with expensive overhaul before 1 million mark. If you like running lapping compound thru your motor 50k or 100k OCI's with filter changes are ok. If you want something to last short intervals are it. Oil changes are cheap. Cheapest overhaul you'll never need. Motor is a $30k+ investment.

Where did you confirm that? They were 40K when i left 6 months ago. Even if they recently changed policy, the truck had 40k for its whole life. Dont forget, its not only oil, but they are going 40K without lubing the truck. They also did not use fully synthetic. truck 91139 went to 50k a few times since they didn't get me in for service on time.

TMC would be considered severe duty since most trucks get less then 5.5 MPG. Do to no APU or bunk heater idle time is high as well. Cat recommends 20,000 for sever duty. Since these trucks also go in the mud a lot and get abused, I would change on severe duty interval. Even normal duty is 30K. They change at 40K for light duty. their trucks are def NOT light duty.
