Dash cams. What are you using?

I've been seeing those Top Dawg units now at all the truck stops. Just wondered about how yours is holding up and if you are overall happy with it. I do my shift mostly at night, is the night vision any good? Also is the 8gb SD card good enough or do you need more? Does it just keep recording, then after it uses the 8gb it just starts over like a loop? Any more info you might share on your experiance I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Can anybody recommend a 3 camera system that has a small monitor with a split screen showing all three cameras? I would also like it to be date and time stamped with GPS info too like speed and direction.
The idea is that I want one mounted on each mirror facing down the side of the truck and a nice wide angled one facing forward for the front of the truck. I want to be able to catch the idiots as they try to muscle the truck from an on ramp and then proceed to cut in front and hit the brakes.
We all are familiar with the kind of thing I am talking about.
I used to have an OnGuard with Crete which was a nightmare killing the cruise and generally triggering and slamming the brakes on but the radar feature I really liked. It gave the distance and speed of the vehicle I was following. Very useful in poor visibility, just that extra bit of help in fog, falling snow etc
A lot to ask for but maybe it exists.

Incidentally I bought a Top Dawg single camera from a truck stop. A complete piece of junk, it is going into the garbage. $82 down the drain. Sometimes it is better to spend the money and not cheap.

 

I just had to replace my Top Dawg dash cam. I opted for the Cobra. We'll see how it works, but my Top Dawg 2 camera unit is freezing up now. Starting to think that this brand is not reliable, but I can have it exchanged through our company store......

 

Before you go and buy a cheap plastic model that will last a couple months "if that." Be sure and check out some reviews people writing about it.

I tried that one and took it back within a day. Hated it and the video was crap. You couldn't read any numbers on trucks that were right in front of you and I really disliked it at night. Plus it froze off and on. I only owned this product for about 8 hours and it was new out of the box. Bought it, installed it and went to a customer for a pickup, then came back to the T/S for my 10 off and just had it recording away while I was doing laundry and such. Came back and reviewed the video later and was just disgusted.

 

I bought a Diesel Boss DB4.I really like it...Comes with window mount & 8gig sd card.

Video at night with my dieselboss dash camera. Skip ahead to about 3:00 mark. It was very close and if it had been an accident it would have been my word against the two people in the car. Glad I got this camera.

 

I also use this with a 32gig card,works very good.The only thing they could add would be gps location.Very good quality playback on computer or tablet.

 

I use the same. I bought a second card so if something happens, I can change it out for my protection.
