mmalutki, I have over 100k on the overhaul now. I still have the same problems. The only change is that the chatter noise is louder. I had the overhead set twice. Put it on the dyno and every thing checked with out 92% power to ground. Took it in and had them tear it down again and they can't seem to find any problems. I have no clue what's going on with it. I'm just going to run it until it stops. I have no idea on what's causing my problems. Oh I replaced the air compressor because they thought that was my chatter noise. Still chatters LOUD at 1400+ rpms!

I had a recent intermittent clicking noise coming from drivers side. over the last 1000 miles it was getting louder. It was the accessory drive.

Did you have the heads replaced while doing the overhaul? Only things on the driver side are the fuel pump accessory drive and air compressor and power steering pump. Who did the overhaul? Agreed on the idling, never idle a new engine until it's broken in with lots of hard pulling and good engine temps.

Old post I almost forgot about. Since there is new response to it I will update things a but to help others out if they have the problems. Cory Wood I did install new heads and injectors when the overhaul was preformed. I had my local freightliner dealer in Kansas do the work. I don't idle much at all is the thing.
To update some things. During the fall we found the ticking noise. I noticed it would go away for a few seconds when I used the engine brake. Sure enough we found two broken retainer springs on the "C" brake. Last week I lost injector #4 (fault code 332). After just replacing that injector I noticed that awful chatter noise I've had for the past 3 years quieted down quite a bit. You really gotta listen for it now to notice it. I wonder 3 years ago if the 6 pack of Cummins injectors had one or two of them that were slightly faulty causing a fuel knock of sorts. I plan on replacing the other 5 and seeing if the chatter goes away completely. I've been running it hard for the past 3 years now with these problems. Other than the awful noise it runs fine. Still using 1 gallon of oil every 3000 miles. If I add Lucas to the oil I can get about 5000 miles before I have to add a gallon. I really think when it was overhauled the dealer did a half ### job and never would stand behind their work.

    KenworthGuyNH and Smellfunny Thank this.
