You have to respect the surge, take turns slower and park it when conditions get too bad. They do handle wind better than a box. All equipment has its difficulty in slick conditions.

I ran 3 loads after Christmas. I left Thursday early and ran a plaquemine out and back. I dropped it on the yard Saturday. Monday I headed out around 2 PM with an out and back Caustic load picking up in Mcintosh Al. I dropped it on the yard Wednesday. Headed out early Thursday with another Plaquemine and dropped it on the yard Saturday.

I am off Sunday and Monday. Tuesday I will get my turn dealing with snow and the cold midwest when I head out to Iowa City with an empty. I will swap it for a loaded trailer Wednesday and bring it right back. I should get home Friday morning.

Got a playoff game to go to on Sunday when the 49ers come to town. Hopefully the Panthers and Saints win next week and I will get to do it all over again next week with the NFC Championship Game in Charlotte.

I got to play on the ice a little this week. Headed out Tuesday with an empty trailer bound for Iowa City where I swap it for a loaded one and come right back to a delivery appointment 8 AM Friday. I usually try to make it past Indy and up I-74 into Illinois. That way you can make the turn and get home in 2 nights on the road. This time around Richmond In on I-70 I hit patchy Ice. I couldn't go much faster than 45 on it and it was dark so I decided to take my break at the Gas Grill at the 115.

That is a pretty decent restaurant that I hadn't stopped at yet. I slept in until day break and collected a couple of hours of weather delay. Once I got on the road I realized they weren't much better than the night before. It was either solid ice or felt like I was running on rumble strips before a construction zone. My trailer being empty would just bounce around on the patchy sections of ice. It was salted though and drivable. It was also backed up all the way to Indy and not much of a problem at 15-20 mph. After taking 3 hours to go 60 miles I called dispatch to let them know that the load wouldn't be there at 8 AM Friday but that I should be able to get it there sometime Friday.

The roads were icy all the way to Champaign Il but cleared up after that. I was able to make my swap that afternoon and being tired decided to park it at the Iowa 80. That left me 880 miles to go. I split that in half and stopped in Jeffersonville Oh Thursday night. Headed out at 3 AM and dropped the load in by 11:30 Friday.

I am off until Monday afternoon when I will do a dedicated dry bulk live load in Charleston SC Tuesday morning. I have never done this one before. Supposedly you drop the trailer for them to load and they call you when it's ready. It goes right back to Browns Summit. Drivers go down the night before to guarantee that they get back Tuesday. Short run but they will probably have another one to finish the week for me and this works great with the Playoff Game Sunday.

I'll be bringing one into browns summit for a 0600 delivery monday morning. Im currently sitting at the tamarac on I 77 in WV. I figure i'll drive to high point tomorrow and hang out their until monday. How is the shop at high point? Are they pretty quick when it comes to fixing things? My fuel pump started leaking, so i'll probably get it replaced while im there.

I don't know how quick they will be but High Point has some of the best mechanics in the company. Talk to Henry when you get there.

Brown Summit is not bad. You drop weigh the tank on the scale while they pull a sample then drop it in the drop yard. Usually in and out under an hour.

I've heard good things about the High Point mechanics as well. Seems the smaller terminals are able to get ya in and out pretty quick, in my experiences.

Made it to high point. Is their any place close by to grab some food? I talked to scott about this fuel leak i have. He said he is going to send the mechanic in to give me the keys to a spare so i can deliver monday morning. How longdoes it take to get to browns summit from here? Just trying to figure out what time i have to leave out tomorrow. I guess i'll grab a shower and watch tv the rest of the day.

There are food places just a couple miles from there and a WalMart. Go right out of the terminal, right at the stop light then straight for a couple miles and will see all the places, WalMart, etc.

It's been 4 hrs, but in case you haven't gone and see this before you do, Hibachi Grill is pretty good if you like Chinese food. Just follow RD's instructions and you'll run into it.
