I have yet to see a felon that hasn't gotten a job driving a truck.
However,
I've not met any felons convicted of 1st degree murder.........
Have any felons gotten any trucking jobs?

Thank you - YES community college programs are the best! I know the 6 month program at Austin, TX makes sure that you know your stuff before heading out! As for trucking jobs - YES many, many "small" companies or "private truck owners" WILL give more people a chance then many larger places due to insurance & rules.
I knew of one company that "did" take in Felons as long as they "never" lied, cheated, etc, etc to the Boss - willing to be up front & honest about all things after being hired & he usually required a 3 yr commit to work for him. Info below:

Many felons CAN get a Hazmat. Dont know why that guy in comment #5 would say they couldnt. And no..they dont need to get it expunged. There are a few rules re getting it but like the other poster stated...many felons can get their Hazmat. I see he did put a link with the rules , so that will help you. Being on parole, though, would probably prohibit getting a Hazmat. And since we dont know what the crime was there's a lot of guessing ...a lot of companies that take felons kinda do a case by case depending on the severity. 20yrs (?)...kinda severe? It would be easier for him if he was coming out clean paper..but it is what it is. Being on parole is the thing that will hurt his chances more so than the crime itself since it was so long ago. Companies are not gonna want to play with that. But some will.
Like another poster stated ...he will need to get his license. You can do the research (sounds like you have a lil time)..a community college sounds like a good idea. Again, dont know the crime..if he's a sex offender maybe community college isnt a good idea. But there are other choices.
AS far as which companies will hire a felon...do a Google Search for ...Trucking companies that hire felons...Or you can just search ...Companies that hire felons, if he's not dead set on driving a truck. There are several sites that address this and have lists with many companies (trucking companies too).
After looking at the list I see Arnold isnt on there...but they will take felons. They are doing Fracking now, too. Their lil man-camp in Dilley, TX is half felons. One of their trainers is a full blown Pedo. They cant keep people down their and will take bout anybody. Funny thing...those guys are at the bottom of the list and their bring home is over $1000 a week. Now the oil field bus has its ups and downs ..so it might not be a good thing if he gets out in 2yrs...but its a start. -
I would like to follow up with addressing a blanket statement stating that felons CANNOT get a Hazmat.
There is a big difference between having to wait 5yrs from the release from prison (most crimes)
and cant get it cuz their a felon.
Lots of felons have their Hazmat.JustWannaBeComfortable Thanks this.
