Considering Roehl as first OTR job

My friends son went to work with them about 6 mths ago. He really likes it. He liked that the Driver Trainers have to be in the passengers seat whenever he was in the driver seat and not in the sleeper like 90% of the companies out there. He said this helped him hit the ground running and making money once he went solo. He was confidenate and the Driver Training gave him a lot of great words of wisdom of how to make the money living on the road. He said the equipement is not as new as some of the other companies but it has not been a cause of any issues so far. He said the miles are good but the average length of haul is about 700 miles. He said out of all the guys he went to school with he is the only one that went with Roehl and he is the only one happy and making money. He said a lot have already changed companies as well.

The Trucker Report web-site and US-DOT both gave it Roehl OTR Drive Training program the highest marks of any other company this past summer and ATA said the program was a model example for other companies to follow and that the US-DOT should make rules for OTR Driver Training Roehl should be the standard.

I personnal have never worked for or had any dealings with Roehl other than I company I once worked for back in 1999 use to share a drop yard with them and those guys all seemed real happy back then. I to drive LTL so I never looked into them for my self and now I run my family company so Im sort out of the game as far as looking for myself. Good luck and I hope that helped.

 

It's a decent company and always treated me well. I would still be a trainer there on flatbed if I hadn't got a nice local home daily gig.

 

They have their good points and bad points but I would say they are a good company to start with. I am working local right now but I might would consider going back . But would have to go 14/7 because if you are on 7/7 they raise the price of medical insurance.

 

Not bad at all for getting your time in. You can do a heck of a lot worse I assure you. I did my first 2 years with them but went to school at a 3rd party school but none the less they are a decent enough place to start

 

Yeah I went to a private school then picked Roehl from all the prehire letters I got because I didn't have family working there. I think that is best that way you are not indentured servant to your first company.
