Installing Brass Thermostat Seal in a Cummins N14

    I am replacing the two Thermostats and the two brass inner Thermostat Seals which are pressed into the Thermostat Housing on 2001 Volvo with a Cummins N14. Everything went well until I tried to install the new brass Thermostat Seals. It's a press fit and I can't
    Install them evenly without it trying to come back out again or damaging them. Has anyone done this before or is their a special tool you need or a trick to press these in? Thanks.

    There is a special tool, i use a 1 15/16 socket 3/4 drive and a short extension, that works. You really want to be sure you change the seals, it is important, I put a little oil on the thermostat when I put the thermostat into the seal.
    Just a thought!

    Yep there's a tool for it that you put the seal over, drive it in till the tool bottoms out at the correct seal depth and then pull the tool out. Presto. All done.

    I took it to my Mechanic and they used a big socket and a hammer and tapped it into place, thanks to all who replied.
