Hi all. Geez, I wish I knew where to begin. I need some help! As I said I am the fiance of a trucker and he has been driving for 21yrs, for different companies but his longest with Werner Ent. He is divorced with an 8yr old girl and has to pay child support. Well, call me a fool but I love the guy so I paid 450.00 to keep him out of jail because of owing so much. The point is, he is looking to change jobs, still in trucking, but one that pays for the work you do. He likes to get in a truck and drive. Give him a load, tell him where to take it, let him go and then there is no need for further communication till he gets there which I admit is quick.
So my question is, Can anyone out there tell me of a good , faithful, loyal and deserving company?
Please help me, us.
Thanks,
Karen![]()

I can't tell you much about what's available down in Georgia but up here in New York there are alot of local and regional jobs.Smaller companies seem to appreciate their employees better.I know smaller companies don't pay as much.Benefits aren't great, but you do get up every morning and want to go to work.I have worked for large national companies before.Their concern is the CEO and shareholders, not the driver.Remember, when anyone starts out in trucking they are going to be at bottom of the ladder until they gain road time ,they have to put up with companies that assign you a number and not a name.Tell him to look local or regional, everything moves by truck, there is still alot of jobs out there and it does not have to be with a national chain.

Well right now it seems like the only companies hiring are the bad ones.. People who do not treat thier drivers very well (not in all cases) The economy has put a hurting on all companies, this is limiting companies in expanding.. The reason bad companies have openings is well they are bad and people quit all the time lol.. I have been looking for a company as you described for almost 4 months now and have not been successful as of yet.. I do believe I am getting closer to my goal.. A lot of hard work and research on each company that calls..
Good luck!! -
He's been driving for 21 years and hasn't found a good job yet? Why not? Does he have a lot of accidents or citations on his record? That's a long time to be in trucking and still not find a "niche". You say he's been with many companies - why so many? Does he quit or is he fired?
And he doesn't pay child support enough so he was threatened with jail?
Not to be mean here, but do you have your eyes open? I cannot imagine the above-mentioned scenario attached to an honest, hard-working, well-meaning good truck driver, honestly. Something's just not right here. -

Brenda,
The courts do not like a father being in arrears in child support.
No accidents, no citations. The company and it's 32 cents a mile just doesn't pay enough for them to take out the whole amount he has to pay.
I am not telling the whole story to you but my eyes are WIDE open and more will be real clear to me on the 3rd of April.
Thanks and if there was a way I could give you my email address I could explain better.
