Exactly!! Either way they "steal" your money for an item they ordered and need.

This is how we handle it. We get billed lumper on the freight invoice. We do require a copy of the lumper receipt to pay.

I ship produce, doing all supermarket DCs. When I get quotes from brokers, I require their pricing to be "all-in". I clearly tell the brokers that it must be inclusive of any unloading fees, it's their responsibility to know what they are and to add them into the rates they give me. It's frankly a PIA to keep track of the various charges and to pay them out, this keeps it simpler. But, I also assign lanes at the beginning of each crops season so the broker knows he has aprox xx number of loads per week and to where, which I think makes me a good shipper.
