Heck if you love it that much don't let this be the end .
Get out there and beat on doors and keep on bugging everyone that is out there until they hire you just to keep you out of their office every week !
You will never get anywhere if you let others tell you that you can't do this or that .
Get off the pity couch and go out there and kick the world in the nuts and get the job you want .
Get real pissed off and don't take no for answer .
You have made it harder to get a good job but you never made it impossible to get one yet .
Don't take a break and try to come back later because then they will tell you that you need to redo school because you need recent experience .
That is how you get caught up in the catch-22 B.S.
Forget online crap go door to door and look the man in the eye you will get a better chance to explain and a better job if they hire you .
Forget these truck stop rag add outfits they all suck go out and make a good job happen for you !!
That is the best advice I can give you or any other new guy out there .
Get off your butt and put in the leg work by talking to the man you want to work for face to face .
Not some online app or some recruiter .

Was talking to a friend of mine who got laid off right around Thanksgiving and he said that he had a lead on a job and that he was waiting till after the 1st of the year but said it sounded promising on the phone. I told him to go over there and talk to the guy face to face you would have a better shot at getting the job because of you took the effort to come to him. Point being if you love driving and you want to get back into it don't believe what they say on the phone go to the man and he will look at you in a different way.
Chewy352 Thanks this. -
Don't feel bad. I rolled over back in 2005 at 25 mph and lost my job. Not been driving since and yes I miss driving a rig.

I worked as a CO for a few months before relocating. I was on the graveyard shift and floated between being a pod officer and working the yard. I didn't have the personality for it, but it was an interesting gig. Will they let you do transport? If so, you could continue driving (not in the same capacity) which may reflect well when you decide to get back into a truck.

Transport is a hard assignment to get because so many more senior people want it but it is a responsibility of all COs so I can still claim it and will occaisionaly do it. I don't think many company will consider it because it's not a CMV but a minivan.

Well glad to here you were wearing your belt, they save your butt. Anyhow if it turns to the worse what I have learned on this subject is not good at all. I rolled mine on 12/20.
None of the big carriers so far give you a break, Most want 3 years without an accident after this, some Like MAY Truck only want 1 year. CDS in Phoenix can work with you if you otherwise have a good Record.
Good luck, God Bless, like I said I'm working thru this myself.Chewy352 Thanks this. -
Good luck Powder.

Well, for what it's worth, Texas Department Of Criminal Justice is hiring. There's a bonus for new CO's, and
you'll start out as a CO III with your degree/experience. The bonus is unit-dependant, but there's some up
north. Pampa and Dalhart have units on the bonus list. -
If you are willing to relocated, they are always hireing for Transportation COs for TDCJ.
They run Bluebirds. -
The wife would leave me if I mentioned moving to Texas lol. Thanks though.
