Lucar, I just want to add in here on a side topic. You're mentioned apu several times in this thread. I would absolutely not let an apu be a deciding factor between one truck or another. For well under a grand you can solve the idling for heat/ac problem. Dealers jack up the price of a truck by week over 5k if it has a brand name apu on it. Take that apu off your criteria and you might find better trucks for less money. Also you keep saying 07 preemmision. An 07 is NOT a pre emission engine. You need too understand that any truck with an 03 or newer engine is going to have emission related technology and the big expensive problems that go with it.

There are 2 red flags on this "deal".
1°Any dealer that when you first visit their website, that has a pop up window telling you not to worry if you have bad credit(i went straight to the infosheet off the truck using the link someone posted)...........................that makes very worried about they way they do bussiness.

2° that engine is Accert.Twinturbo.Not what i would call a good engine.

Lucar,i did a quick search.(less then 5 minutes,i did not even check out all off Schneider's trucks for sale)

    found this http://schneidertrucks.com/inventory/specsheet/?ID=5339765
    Same mileage.
    Series 60 engine
    18000$ less.
    Buy that,spend 10 000$ out off that extra 18 000$.(buy a used APU,new turbo,injectors,waterpump,replace all hoses,....)
Leaves you with 8 000$ spare cash which would solve your cash flow problem.
And putting 10 000$ in repairs in that truck would give you a allmost bulletproof truck for a few years.:yes2557:

But i'm not kidding myself.........here are the reasons you will not be interested in that truck.
It does not have a yellow engine(you know those as they have really been good to you..........................not)
It has a 10 speed.(you will not be first on top off the hill)
It is orange.(god forbid someone see's you in a truck with that color)

    Let the debate continue.......

What you're missing here is the 1,000s of hours the main engine does not have, given it was equipped with an apu. He could junk the apu it has on it and still be ahead. My T600 came with a 24k hour tripak. Now an o/o probably wouldn't have idled the truck quite that much, but certainly an indicator. Because of the high hours, I've had to put a few hundred dollars into that apu to make it work right. Mainly a/c and bunk heater work. The good news is the big motor up front probably has at least around 10-15k fewer hours on it in the first place.

Technically you're right. However, I took it in the context of this article to mean pre-DPF. Lucar already stated one criteria was '05 or newer, so EGR or the CAT equivalent (ACERT) is a given. That is, unless he were to run across a very unlikely glider that met the age and mileage minimums.

    Mr Daf..... Couple of points

First that dpf motor can be made to work but that is a moot point because the op doesn't have the wallet for it. (or knowledge)

Second in all your bad mouthing of the cat product you forgot the auto trans problems that the op has with that truck ? ?

Third any "deal" the op is looking at has to take his pos in trade.

P.S. I will say it again ....... Do not buy any 08-09 truck ever --- yellow , red or pink...!

Bayou. It is a 550 Cat.. still I'm not concerned of the HP rating
Spyder. The Apu as stated by mr. Red Foreman means the truck doesnt have the idle hours the schneider has. Schneider would not give me full trade for mine (as mr. Sdp) stated before
As soon as the deal goes through I can list detailed info on repairs done to the prior truck

I actually like the look of that truck. I have not seen a freight liner that looked that good. It looks to me that you will be able to tell what the engine gives you in MPG, and not have the "hood" wind block.

Who says you get more money on a truck that you trade-in then you would get on a outright sale?(actually,he is trading down so any salesman will know he is in a bind with that red KW)

    @ Cat,you mention the autobox................why you think i posted a Schneider with a 10 speed?

Correct but my bussiness plan has you replace most wear parts with budget to spare.Effectively you then run with a refreshed engine.

PS they way Lucar has set up his deal,he is still left with 0000$ in reserve in case something happens.
So sorry to be blund Mr.Lucar but that is not a good deal.Leaves you wide open to failure.
Because you presume that CAT powered Freightliner will have ZERO issues in the next months.

    Again,i hope i'm wrong.

Most dealers won't take a 08-09 cat in trade for any price...he'll be lucky to get out from under it.
