Many companies (my dads included) and o/o's stock pilled 07trucks with 06 engines or just stock pilled 06 trucks. It's smart, ask anybody who knows anything about the new clean air regulations and they will tell you the same. I have heard horor stories about the 07 engines geting 20% less mpg then the 06's. As farr as the trucks sitting because they can not meet emission standards, i don't believe it my dad bought 12 new 07's T800 daycabs with the 06 engines and you can bet your butt they are runing and runing legal...
I can not say anything good about werner,because they are flat out a bad comany but in this case at least, the disgruntled rumers you heard were just that..Rumers! Every company you will ever work for has the rumer of new trucks just siting. I can assure you that no company buys trucks to let sit. The old o/o addage 'if the tires aren't moving i'm not making money' applies to the big boys to.
Those rumers that the DOT made them go paperless have been around for years and who knows if they are true.
All i know is there are alot bad trucking companies out there with a worse DOT rating and they are not going paperless,well some of them are but alot of companies are. Bottom line is most traning companies are bad, and you will go through hell to get everything the lieing recruiters tell you will get, most of them are payed on commision so they will tell you what you want to hear to get you to orientation. Thats there job.
as much as it sucks, you really do have to suck it up untill you get a year or two and then i will get beter. Good luck! -
Werner~~~~
THE BLUE SCREW
~~~~ just sucks, period!!!
JUST DONT DO IT!!! -
I worked for them running relay from Memphis, Tn. to Prescott, Ar. I liked the run but they kept adjusting my pay. One week they would pay .26 a mile, and the next .28 a mile or what ever they decided for that week. The miles I ran never changed, after arguing with them about my pay and getting nowhere, I told them to stick it. What these companies do is over book on the orientation classes just in case someone is a no show. When all the drivers show up they don't have enough trucks or miles to give them, so like in your case you sit. If you leave before your year is up your goingto have to pay for the schooling, unless you find another company to pick up your school contract. Good luck in your search.
I live in Omaha. Who ever is saying big companys never would leave new trucks sitting has never driven by Werners lot. They have over two hundred or so doing just that, sitting.
I got this from a Werner driver the other day that right now, due to soft freight, they have grounded around (I think he said) 200 trucks and they are also looking at the safety and performance records of drivers and are weeding them out. A Swift driver yesterday told me that Swift is doing a similar thing. They both seem to be cutting down fleet size to reflect the soft freight market. This also could be an indication from those in the know regarding freight that things may stay soft for awhile. Seems if it was just short term they would not be taking such steps but would be expecting a soon upturn requiring maintenance of current driver levels. Just something to watch.
and another thing just a tip if u want to get with a dedicated run first off u have to see what kind of accounts are coming out your state..
second u have to call driver placement everyday, i mean everyday the problem is u have to go and get it. when the lady at driver placement tells u oh ill put u on the waiting list hahahaha dont do it call everyday until u get a dedicated . trust me i did and after 2 weeks on midwest regional i got on with the ab account . its been many times i called just to call... they had walmart open, hersey, con agra, home depot ... dont give up and u will get one trust me......... -
What if you have been trying to get a dedicated run for 12 and a half years?
-
12 Years .. are u serious . i would have left for a union company by 3 years... thats all u need
