The company I worked for was 1099 made over 60k last 3 years and paid back 1900 in taxes and you can claim almost everything from tote chains to windshield wipers to tires. Pretty much a self contractor I think that's the word I'm looking for Lol. They have about 27 trucks pretty #### successful for being a bunch of greedy folks on vacation weekly lol

live. Taking up tax payers dollars and wasting you time and money for this foolishness. -
So if you are company driver you must work under W2, what about if you own your truck and work as owner operator - you gotta do 1099 right?
If you are Owner Operator can they force you to pay Work Comp? I read the posts above, just wanna see if i understood right. -
Is odd my carrier recomended i do the 1099 route i have allways in the past paid on a w2 but if i allow the driver to pick own freight hometime etc does that move them more towzrd a 1099 status
-
so is it a good ideal to be a 1099 driver my boss told me to get a business license and drive his truck as a owner operator and get a 1099 from him
-
no. companies who operate with the 1099 status are not paying taxes for you. they could close the doors tomorrow and your screwed for every bit of money owed to the federal government, but you are in the boat already. plus the fact that you get no unemployment or disability if anything happens to you while you are on the job.
