In a way i'm not suprised. "what do you exspect? it's the trucking
industry" is what i always say. Look at the last 25yrs of the industry and
tell me if it has actually gotten better? Same BS, same BS dispatchers,
and same BS shippers and recievers and same BS stick it in your
fuel prices and now the new thing is to undermind drivers....wait that's
not newthey're just more twisted and evil about it

We just got the slow'em down boys speech here in Roehl land. We had the same speech a few years back. Personally I wish the co would just cut the speed back themselves as that I don't have much self discipline. Just drove 60 from Chicago to Philly and it liked to kill me. That being said Dang if I don't feel relaxed when I get where I'm going.

I think you've got the right idea!

I'm sure your well aware of this but,THEY (the haves)can't make it without the employees(the have nots) help.It always amazes me how the "haves" always think they can buy a few pieces of equipment, insure it and paper work it,get a couple of employees (have nots)and work them like dogs and then act so superior about how THEY ( the haves) have built this company up and THEY'VE done this and that. And how the employees should be kept in the dark like a mushroom while their lives depend on the job .Arrogance at its finest I guess. It goes to show you how much a persons raising always shows through. -
Every company is like that?
Please! Even the largest company had small beginnings. Microsoft was started in a College dorm room.

If I ran a company I would expect the best from my employees.
That means that they have a work ethic that is conducive to their success and the company as whole. In return they would receive a pay package that reflects not only their experience, but their performances as well. As an owner I would be expected to follow laws in regards to labor and pay so why should I tolerate employees who believe that because I am the Evil owner, that I am out to rob them, that I owe them more than the job itself.
I'm from the "Old School" line of thinking when it comes to working. You give me 100% you get paid and have a great job. If you give me 110% you're going places whether for me as your employer or somewhere else like starting your own company.
It is not called "work' for nothing. Simply put, you're hired for your potential contributions towards the success (or continued success) of an organization.
How many drivers (or workers from any other company) out there criticize a driver (or other worker) because he runs by the company SOP? Yeah, it's he's an ### kisser or he's a brown-noser ect, ect.....
Nobody owes you a living in this life. People have to drop that line of thinking that the company is out to screw them. NO one put a gun to your head and said for you to jump in that cab or we're gonna shoot you or your family. You chose to hire on to that company just they chose to hire you. It's a trade off. You work for pay and they pay you to work. It's up to you to decide if that's just a job, or a career. Where you go in life is your job. Not mine, not the companies you choose to work for, it's your decision.
Stop blaming the guy who may have started off with one truck and now owns a thousand. Most likely he got there by working hard and putting in his time; and by paying his dues.
Btw, there are many "have-nots" who have succeeded in life....they found a way to succeed no matter what obstacles blocked their paths towards success. -
Im wondering how the cutback will allow the average OTR driver to trip plan without being late, most times it's already a squeeze. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.

High side against the dash and flyin.

I haven't ran like that in a long time and it felt good. Just one of those times where it all fell into place ya know? -

Man..those days get fewer and farther between. And the weird thing about this site is if you start talking about highballin' on down the avenue on here, some 6 month greenhorn, who's never driven anything you have to shift, pops off about you like your some kinda wild goon for liking to stroll every once in a while.Well for all you 90 day wonders, some of us on here drive (or have driven) triple digit trucks with straights, 200 leds, train horns and engine bells AND LOVE IT!!!!!!! Love it so much we'd rather put a wooden bill on and pick crap with the chickens b4 we'd drive anything less..And we don't care what your"training engineer" says about us either. He's probably a fruit pansy if he don't like lights anyway Whew...I said it and I feel better...lol
disclaimer
O NOT TRY THIS KIDDIES IF YOU: Can't drive a harrow tooth in a hog's ##*,Have less than a week with your current employer, DON"T HAVE BAIL MONEY,A FRIEND WITH BAIL MONEY OR TIME TO WAIT FOR YOUR COURT DATE.ALSO CRYING IN FRONT OF THE STATE TROOPER WILL NOT WORK IN THE STATES OF CA,TX or OK. it will only cause them to beat you harder and call their friends to laugh at you too.

I think it boils down to respect. CFI or Con-Way and most of the other majors do not respect their employees enough to let them in on the gameplan.

Sounds to me like they're driving one more nail into the coffin of solo OTR driving.
Two words for you guys: Mandatory teaming.
Actually, the government won't mandate your doubling up in a fiberglass closet on 10 wheels. The market will do that. Solo driving is as good as dead in OTR. Enjoy these last of the "good ol' days" if you're solo and sleeping in a stationary truck at night.
