Overall, Boyd has a good reputation. Seems like the lady in dispatch is covering her tracks and throwing your husband under the bus.
If he wants to stay in flatbed, look at other companies such as Melton Truck Lines. Decker Truck Line just built a new $2 million dollar terminal in Bessemer, AL. Keim TS has a terminal in Jasper, TN.
Fines for accidents??

Sounds like total BS. Someone in the office is trying to protect themselves
-
That's a pretty big company to be doing that...he needs to get that handbook out and read what he signed.
10apryl Thanks this. -
Agreed!! He chose Boyd because of their reputation and I was hesitant to say anything negative about them because its not ALL bad...I think I have to agree and say its just a bad apple. He requested another dispatch after the first incident because he called the bosses and reported the mix up.....she covered her tracks and nothing was done and he still had to pay. Thats as far as it went.

RUN! RUN! RUN! As fast as you can to another company.

This does not sound crazy, except for the fact he's allowing this . I will not allow a company to take my hard earned money. Not for any reason. If they do not like my job they can let me go. But they are not taking my money. Take the truck to the yard and leave. No way, no shape an no know would not allow this.goatman826, Chinatown and 10apryl Thank this.

The dispatcher considers a drivers "home" to be the bunk behind the seat. She meant to say "have a great weekend sitting in a T/A parking lot, talking to your wife on the phone"...
Chinatown, NavigatorWife and 10apryl Thank this. -
LOL.....
Maybe she did.

Read the drivers contract. Unless it says that the company has the right to recoup losses through the drivers already earned pay I would seek advice from a professional. Granted he may be in the wrong but I would not sit still and take it on the chin. Like Chinatown said Boyd has an overall sorta decent rep. I used to drive for another Boyd family member that took off on his own back in the 90s and he based his company on their mentality. He was a good guy and still has his own co today with less than 50 trucks. I could always call him if a dispatcher was ( in my opinion screwing me) and he would always side with the driver if he thought he was in any way right. So maybe your ole man needs to do the same.
10apryl Thanks this. -
He's got a crap dispatcher! My bf works for them and has nothing but good to say. He has good communication with his dispatcher and if he can't get home for the weekend (has only happened twice since Oct) he'll ask his dispatcher for a long run to make up for it. I called him about this to find out who your husband should talk to to try and straighten this out for you guys. I'll also ask him to look in his handbook for those policies.10apryl Thanks this.
