Since you are mentioning shorter runs, I always get a kick out of drivers who will refuse shorter runs where they can be turning their wheels and making some money. Instead, they will sit on their duffs and make NO MONEY waiting for the "good runs."

So after reading this. What does having to be a felon have to do with empty miles. Except if that is code word. Of you wanting to set up some points inbetween pickups to haul a couple of kilo's of Colombia's finest, and get those keys off at some hotel room in Memphis. I'm just saying :)

I always drive home empty with the milk tanker.....once I unload at the plant, the only place I can get more milk is from the dairy farms.:yes2557:
So in exact numbers, I am empty 50% of the time. I get paid by the load.

And truth be told make more for them shorter runs than the longer ones. I hate to sit had one day they had a hard time finding I say look anywhere in 200 miles I got to roll somewhere had one in 30 min. paid 1600 for 600 miles including the dead head

This^^^^^^^drove for a fast food distributor til I retired....leave the yard loaded....put off 2 to 3 stops and return empty to the yard. Some drivers had back-hauls on their routes , but that was the exception , not the norm.

I deadhead about 200 miles with one of my current customers but am now paid the same loaded or empty per mile. My company is trying to branch in different directions. Some pay percentage of load, others pay per mile.
