It is fairly improbable (but not impossible) that he, an ELD (or "Entry Level Driver") would be issued a "newer" May truck. Drivers come, drivers go, they issue trucks. You get what you get. Mine has no APU but somehow I survived last summer. (Right now, the bunk heater is my best friend)
On the other hand, these trucks will eventually be turned over (figuratively, hopefully not literally) and it is quite possible that an ELD would get one with an APU. Possible, not probable. Unlikely, at best.
I have also heard a lot about *new* trailers and have even seen a few, but most of the ones that I pull were built long before most of the current drivers were even born.
I would not base my choice of starter companies entirely upon the presence of APUs.

May makes to much of their idle policy to ever install APU's.The cost to maintain APU'S are driving other companies to phase them out.
