After reading some of the comments left on Facebook: Northwest Indiana what I gleaned from the conversations is that it was too cold the other day for the salt to work, it was down to -11. Cars were abandoned in areas making it hard for plows to plow. And INDOT only plows state roads and highways, not city streets, etc.```
A couple of truckers posted that they got a idling violation while at an un-named Truckstop, but there are only so many on 80/94. Guess they thought people should sit in a truck with it -10 or lower, not including the wind chill factor. This alone would make me not want to spend any money in the stations in the areas. Truckers pay taxes to use the roads so where does the money go. And with freezing temps, someone is overzealous.
It looks like they could at least 80/94 cleaned off better on this round of snow. This is a major road and it is still horrible to travel.
This last snowfall this past MON-Tue posted by a person on Facebook, Hammond: 16 inches Highland: 14 inches
Griffith: 22-24 inches
I 65 shut down

Not aware that Indiana had any idle law restrictions.

According to this website Indiana is one of the states which does not have it, gungho person maybe, I don't know. I sure hope the guys are able to get it thrown out. I would have said it was just talk, but there were 2 different people who said they got a ticket.

Doubt it was a legitimate ticket.
Probably a case where a driver parked in one of the Idle Aire and maybe got something from the owner. -
Indiana is behind the curve for sure. Louisiana once had that reputation for worst roads, but they had a good excuse -- CORRUPTION!
What is Indiana's excuse? I thought they had a balanced budget and a solid conservative goverment? -
I live not far from NW Indiana and cannot see them out writing Idleing tickets with how cold it has been and the amount of snow that NW Indiana received... I don't believe that Indiana has Idle laws but even if they did when it drops below a certain temperature they cannot ticket someone for idleing.... With how cold its been ( Below 0 ) there's no way they are out writing tickets.... I think people were just blowing smoke up your behind... LOL
