Seeing as my concealed carry permit is reciprocal with ND was thinking it might be a good idea to bring a 40 caliber with me. Is this frowned upon by water hauling companies? If i cant carry at work I would keep it in my truck. Also do any of you guys do any target shooting while on your own time. Thanks in advance, coffeehead

It's so ironic that I had this exact same thought today, was day dreaming on my route and thought again about going up to the Baken...
Then I thought about the fact that those oilfields are pretty rough...

I own several hand guns, and a few dozen rifles/shotguns, even a deactivated type 100 SMG my great grandfather brought back from Japan.

My favorite carry is between my Glock 22 and my Sig sauer p226. Though on the later, I'm not crazy about the exposed hammer, and accordingly don't chamber it when I conceal it- so I typically lean towards the g22 chambered in an IWB holster. With that said I also recently fell in love with a colt python I picked up on the cheap at a gun expo a few months back, and am straddling the edge of CC'ing that particular piece.

EDIT- Forgot to mention that I do quite a lot of shooting, I'm lucky enough to live in a house adjacent to 50 acres of swamp- and the guy who owns it doesn't care how much lead I drop in it (which is quite a ###### bit, I can tell you) I'm currently reloading between 150-300 rounds a week just in 9mm and another 300-500 a week in .40 auto...when I can get the powder, lead, primers and time to do so. Everything is getting so pricey. Demand has skyrocketed and the supply just for ammo, not even including home reloads is going to take another five years just to catch up.

But I digress, I'm also curious about OP's question.

This comes up all the time. Although you have a permit to carry, it's not a permit to do whatever you want on private property. Carriers and and any site you may visit will prohibit firearms, so having them in a truck, even your own, is not a solution.

There is also the problem of transporting your firearm across state lines to ND. Not every state you might cross will smile kindly on your transport. If you really must shoot once you get to ND, why not look for a club once you arrive and rent a gun for the times you want to shoot?

When I said "keep it in my truck" I meant my personal vehicle. When it comes to firearms I think of it as a tool not a weapon. I am the weapon if the need for self defense presents itself. Anyhow if its against the law/company policy to have a firearm in my personal vehicle on company property then I will not break that law/company policy. Also I just purchased a 7.9 million volt stun gun. Would carrying that be against company policy? I'm not a dangerous or violent person at all I just like to be prepared.

Most leases will not allow firearms, (and alcohol, etc.) and most companies will not allow you to carry anything.
Now I do know a lot of people, from driver to company men carry in their trucks. On a personnal level, I'd rather carry than leaving the weapon in a truck sitting in the yard for 12 + hours .

Not seen, not caught.. caught and you ll be hanged, so to speak.

Your firearm is on you to protect your life and your physical ability to keep working. There are thousands of driving jobs in ND, all paying $100,000 to start. If one makes you unwilling to trade your freedoms for that one job, find another and retain your freedom.

give me a break. when would you ever come across a bad guy with a gun in the field? absolutely never. gun lovers live in a fantasy world where the boogie man hides around every corner, and it is your ultimate fantasy to shoot him in the head. having a gun on you just increases your chance of being killed. if you actually ever encountered someone threatening you with a gun, whicj will almost certainly never happen, what are you gonna do reach for your concesled gun? guess what, you're dead. all because you value the contents of your wallet over life. you just make yourself a target because you become a threat to another man's life, and it becomes him or you, whereas a sensible person just swallows his ridiculous pride and tosses the scumbag hos wallet and cancels his credit cards and lives to enjoy another day of FREEDOM. speaking of, i'm glad i have the FREEDOM to work in am environment where i don't have to worry about being surrounded by hot-tempered rednecks with itchy trigger fingers packin heat

but hey, you wanna turn down $100K because they won't let you bring your glock to work, be my guest lol. that is your freedom

cue some worn out rant about "patriotism" and our slave-owning, makeup wearing forefathers....

A snow that we have heard from the Lilly-livered "Oh please don't hurt me, take whatever you want but refused to work for" brigade....concealed means exactly that, concealed. What they don't know just may save yer butt. Or your hard earned money.

And yes, I HAVE had a gun pulled on me. There ain't gonna be second time. Being a victim sucks, so refuse to repeat the experience.
