It will go a little something like this I have been told.

Someone has an accident or something along the lines that puts the company on the Radar. Then they will send out the investigation team. Then after the investigation they will send in the Auditors. Then after the audit you will be called to an office where you will be provided an vanilla envelope with your tickets/citations. Always remember there is a law written somewhere in the books that will allow them write Heavy Fines and Tickets.

It just takes getting on the radar; and then they break out the books; investigation teams; and auditors...

Short haul is to fill out a time card, located at the terminal every day. But people who choose to not know the law and follow it deserve the fines that they are risking. When will that happen, maybe never, but an accident that involves injury, get some lawyers involved, and the not following the laws will come to light.

Is making more money worth the risk, that is up to the individual, but be willing to accept the consequences of that decision.

It is called the oilfield exemption.

DOT and ND leave oilfield trucks alone most of the time. Do not give them a reason to crawl up your butt with a microscope. The pain will remain on your CSA score for years.

One of many reasons I got out of the cab.
