Forget about the comforts and niceties in a truck. To make your life easier you should drive a truck building on skills that make you better each day. Knowledge is golden. Before you even think about a microwave and all the goodies you can find, study the FMCSR's and any other material that will help you to drive the truck the best you can. Make it a game for yourself and try to do better the next day over the one before. Just keep it to yourself and build on your defensive driving skills. Before you know it you'll be a beginner with some skills pointed in the right direction. Plus along the way you'll know what you want in the truck and what works and what doesn't. And maybe an added bonus you'll start making really good money for your efforts.

I like allot of what you said and agree, but I don't think you should focus only on the work side of it. A good attitude makes a happy person and a happy person does a better job so I think they go hand in hand!.

I find an m/t bottle to be very comforting at times, and, as a bonus, you can make them yourself by drinking ice tea, or filling up the truck's windshield washer resivore.

That goes along with being a good defensive driver. Sorry I didn't make it clearer.

A lot of the rest areas in Texas have free Wifi.
    Iowa also.

I can't think of any other states.

GasHauler and 379exhd have given you the absolute best advice possible...a good cooler will keep water/drinks cold...also mayo/mustard etc and lunch-meats for sandwiches. A really good mattress will help keep you properly rested...While you are learning the skill set you'll need for this job the main goal should be pay attention to details...learn to read every road sign that you see.....watch/listen to experienced drivers around you , and most important of all... REST when you can....TRUCK...AFTER you rest........

    GasHauler Thanks this.

LOL I remember when my dad started driving, (many years ago) the truck didn't have a radio even. he asked me if I could set something up as I was always putzing with my buddies car stereos. I set up a briefcase with a stereo system and a CB on top of it.
