Just wondering how many use the Calgary Stoney trail ring road when going through Calgary east or west? Do you find it easier or quicker to use that or still go through town?

28 traffic lights going thru town. Take the ring road.

    What he said.

Until the ring road was completed on the north side, it used to be much quicker to take the "Gleichen bypass" because then you'd only hit two stop signs and 4-5 lights, but I see much less reason for that route now.

Of course, the perimeter roads are always the best choice!

You counted pipeman? Lol I take the ring rd everyday. Has some good frost heaves on it lol. Anyone know a good route to avoid the scale outside Calgary on the 2 north?

Buy a map, lots of detour options there! gravel and paved. Or buy a gun and shoot the lights:) Sometimes they are standing at the last exit.

Most of the detours aren't truck routes.

Yes I did. Came out of Standard with fire retardant going to Kamloops with A or B trains and I counted the SOB's.

It depends how far east your start point is, the only good paved way close to the 2 that I can think of is to head west past the 2 and go north at harvest hills exit to 566, west again to 772 to and north to 567, then east thru the north end of Airdrie, a couple of lights there though and then back on the 2. but that is a lot of extra miles.
