If that question was for me joshdaniels, yes I'm still here! Trucking along! A few things have changed, with the company. Nothing to cry about, simply because I expected it to happen. But yes still here.
When I move only place I'm going is with my own authority!

Wife and I have been with Rrts since may 2012. We love the fact we have a terminal run from mt Juliet Tn to portland Oregon then we doa shuttle load to Seattle washington. Same route every week same pay +/- a few dollars depending if there is a direct delivery. We dont have any bad complaints but do have to say get a truck and trailer on your own. Dont lease through Rrts. The cost is crazy
Tobytob and Boy Howdey Thank this. -
I love the portland terminal(I was leased there back in 07-08) Only reason I quit was to be home every weekend. RR has gotten big, and they purchased a lot of companies, They probably aren't anything like what they used to be .
TopCatTrucking Thanks this. -
Yes Portland terminal is one of the few that actually treat ya like a human.

Any body still at RR,
I used to know a guy named Mark Whitrock - originally from WI, about 50 yr. old now, he drove for a o/o out of Dallas, they leased to RR/Dawes, mainly ran Dallas to the Windy and back. He was a friend but was having health issues due to smoking, diet, etc. Anyone with info, I would appreciate it. -
The problem is RR now takes couple more % of your backhaul money then they used to. I was there at Dawes before RR bought em, way back in 90's and 2000's. I see that they now pay less too then the old rates, like our costs have decreased?!? Also look at the trucks/contractors that haul that freight now. When I was there, most everyone was driving the show trucks, when fuel was $1.00 gal. The good old days........

I was there @ RR Dawes and they had just decreased the RPM(on the sheet they give you) ..I can imagine what it is now .Yea thats the secret is to take more broker loads than RR loads. But now those guys who don't know how to book broker loads(those who come from the mega's who have had their hand held)RR has an in house brokerage to find loads for them ..which are more than likely cheap because the goal lis the get the driver to a terminal city @ any rate...

Seems strange a bunch of contractors would all say the key to success at a company is taking broker loads. Isn't the whole point of being leased to a carrier to be able to capitalize on their freight base?
